Youth for Climate ...

Protesting to turn the power off and on at the same time?

Euractiv:

Is Russia behind climate change protests in EU? ‘Definitely yes’, says Ukraine

Well, Canada's Foreign Minister seems about to be hoist on yet another petard of her own construction. She's anti-Russia, pro-Ukraine, yet supports tax increases to finance Canada's promised battle against "climate change". Just the kind of initiative the protesters are crying out for!

So, does Russia simply enjoy seeing Canadians taxed more highly? I hardly think Freeland is interested in increasing Russia's enjoyment levels.

Like Vinnie Barbarino (YouTube), I'm zo confuzzzzed.

Globe&Mail:
  • Starting in 2019, Canadians will start to pay more for the gas they burn and the products they buy, but the cost will depend on where you live – and whether your province has its own carbon tax, or whether Ottawa is imposing its own.

I don't see how these kids can make any progress with such a whacked-up world power structure.

Anyway ...

All of the usual media suspects are creating hoopla around "thousands" of youngsters protesting climate change in Australia and Europe. The hope is that this will catch on across the globe like -- excuse the expression -- wildfire.

Columbia U. distills it all into one very sympathetic article with emphasis on the recent  protests in the UK. But the final paragraph seems strangely revealing:
  • No one is going to unplug their smart phones or abandon their cars. But with investment in technology research, infrastructure, and energy efficiency, we can move more rapidly to a sustainable and renewable energy system that will protect our planet while providing for our needs. Young people know it can be done, and will need to be the catalytic force to finally bring about decarbonization.

I wonder how they "know" it can be done without any apparent sacrifices of their own (not even symbolic) other than briefly interrupting their schooling to shout in the streets about how their futures are being affected by "climate change" deniers.

It was that trademark, seductive smooth-talk from Obama that first shooed the bee about the legacy of climate change into the bonnets of the world's youth:

From Forbes:
  • During his inaugural address he said: “We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations.”

But then he promptly increased the so-called carbon levels with all manner of toxic munitions in over half a dozen different countries -- starving, maiming, making homeless and killing thousands (millions?) of kids -- all for the greater good.

The youth in those countries have obviously had to focus more on their immediate survival needs than on future weather conditions.

The Forbes headline is a thorn in the theory:
In Their Own Words: Climate Alarmists Debunk Their 'Science'

According to Forbes, the stats produced by those very alarmists cast doubt on the whole premise:
  • Regarding wildfires, for example, their numbers since 1950 have decreased globally by 15%. According to the National Academy of Sciences, they will likely continue to decline until around midcentury.
  • As for those droughts, a recent study published in the letter of the journal Nature indicates that globally, “…there has been little change in drought over the past 60 years.” And as the U.N. Climate panel concluded last year: “Some regions of the world have experienced more intense and longer droughts, in particular in southern Europe and West Africa, but in some regions droughts have become less frequent, less intense, or shorter, for example, in central North America and northwestern Australia.”
  • Also, by the way, global hurricane activity, measured in total energy (Accumulated Cyclone Energy), is actually at a low not encountered since the 1970s. In fact, the U.S. is currently experiencing the longest absence of severe landfall hurricanes in over a century. Wilma, the last Category 3 or stronger storm, occurred more than seven years ago.

But also, according to Forbes, Maurice Strong, Canada's very own own oligarch as a banking and oil bigwig, creator of Petro-Canada and close pal of former SPP signatory, PM Paul Martin is quoted as saying:
  • “We may get to the point where the only way of saving the world will be for industrialized civilization to collapse.”

By the way, for all those lefty union types who took credit for having forced an end to the SPP, how could you not have noticed or even suspected that all it did was change its name and website?
Although I had shouted along with you at Montebello where the "3 Amigos" met to conspire, and I had taken photos and written a glowing report, the accolades so smugly ascribed to themselves by the union leaders -- not to mention even taking credit for having exposed the police provocateurs despite it being obvious that they had been told repeatedly by the kids in black exactly who those masked men were -- eventually turned me into a raving agnostic.

Moving on ...

Check out "Business" on Strong's Wiki page, and you'll see something similar to the current SNC-Lavalin shenanigans: for example, the "Molten Metal Technology"caper.

I wonder if the reason we've now got George Soros on the inside of our government is because Maurice has been whisked away to the great oil field in the sky? It's directly because of exploiters like these that, whenever I hear of awards and honours being bestowed by the bucketful, I can't help wondering what dirty little secrets have been painted over.

Anyway ... Forbes goes on to say:
  • Former U.S. Senator Timothy Wirth (D-CO), then representing the Clinton-Gore administration as U.S undersecretary of state for global issues, addressing the same Rio Climate Summit audience, agreed: “We have got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing in terms of economic policy and environmental policy.” (Wirth now heads the U.N. Foundation which lobbies for hundreds of billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to help underdeveloped countries fight climate change.)

In 1988, former Canadian Minister of the Environment [Lucien Bouchard?], told editors and reporters of the Calgary Herald: “No matter if the science of global warming is all phony…climate change [provides] the greatest opportunity to bring about justice and equality in the world.”

Which means that outstretched NGO hands will be crossed with lucre by the bucketful, all in the name of saving humankind. It's like what I call Evangelical Fire Insurance: better to preach against  the terrible sins of non-believers, in case there really is a Hell -- and if there's money to be made from it, so much the better.

A depressing admission in the above-cited Columbia.edu article:
  • The politicians mainly care about the development, maintenance and use of political power. The businessmen largely care about making money. That is their role in our political economy. Those in the power structure typically focus on immediate pay offs and victories.

It seems to me that these young people would do better to do better themselves, even if giving up cell phones is symbolic, because politics is what it is and always has been, and there are more opportunities to exploit it in these highly technical times.

Just think what would happen if all of the cell phone owners in the world woke up and realized they could get along quite nicely without them.  Now, that would be a statement!

At the very least, one needs to determine what should be considered most worrying -- carbon emissions, plastic pollution (and that includes discarded cell phones), or 5G pollution?

Sops, these kids will earn, for sure. And maybe, one hopes, an education in what, so far, the motivation has been behind the climate scare -- namely money and power.

Speaking of money, I can't help wondering how those kids managed to get such a professional banner made for them. The allowances their parents give them must be very generous indeed.
