Your Papers, please

Your Papers, Please

... rings a chilling bell.

In the movies, of course, in stories about a bad, bad galaxy far, far away.

But what's this?

NBC: Fear of ICE raids leads some U.S. citizens to carry their passports
  • "I’ve been carrying a passport since the day [Trump] was elected," said the American spokesman for a Latino organization.

Jeepers, I thought ice was something we had to watch out for in winter. People in America have to watch out for it every day now.

CapitolHillOutsider: You have, perhaps, relatives in Berlin, ya?
  • America is GONE, dear reader. Replaced by an all-out police state sometimes referred to as “Amerika.”  The only thing the two share in common is geography.
  • I had hoped not to live to witness this a second time, but here it is,  and I am still on the sunny side of the grass.
  • For you younger folk who are wondering what this old man is babbling on about, understand, you are not old enough — nor wise enough — to understand, and to fear what’s coming next. But I am.

In Canada, where "freedom of speech" is our constitutional right, the "old man" could be chastised for not using the slightly less ageist term "older man".

Meanwhile, the younger folk are happily enjoying the "Papers Please" game. Here's a younger fellow (YouTube) who is quite amusing as he plays a Russian (of course) border guard; although halfway through, his language (and the game itself) begins to seriously deteriorate. Must be the stress of the job.

Okay, I'll get to the point:

CNN: Operation expected to target about 2,000 undocumented immigrants ordered by courts to be removed from the country.
  • The raids, which will focus on recent arrivals to the country, are slated for Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco, a senior immigration official said. New Orleans is also on the list, but the city tweeted last week that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said it would suspend operations through the weekend in areas hit by Tropical Storm Barry, which weakened to a tropical depression Sunday.

Way to take the sting out of a hurricane! New rules of the game: Hurricanes beat ICE.

Makes you wonder how sincere the US is in its mission to protect the third most populous country in the world -- with a population growth below the world average annual rate of 1.1% [Wiki] -- from the addition of 2000 suspected foreigners.

Oh, well.  That's the crazy Merkins, eh?  But ... what's wrong with the following paragraph?

USAToday Rules & Regulations for Crossing the Canadian Border
  • Canada and the United States share the world’s longest international border. Officially called the International Boundary, it’s known as the “world’s longest undefended border” because of the friendly relationship between the U.S. and Canada and because there’s no wall separating the countries – just checkpoints at highway crossings.

Just checkpoints, you say.  Let's compare the US and Canadian checkpoints:

USAToday: What You Need as an American to Visit Canada

No bigee; pretty much just a passport and proof that you are an authorized guardian of any child you might have with you.

So, off with you to Canada, and guess what, we've fixed it so you can never come back:

USAToday: Laws for Crossing Canadian Border to USA
  • While proof of identification alone was once valid to cross the border by land, this is no longer the case.

No kidding, eh? Read the rest of their blurb if you like, but what they're not saying outright is that Canada's Border Protection is no longer its own boss:

Aljazeera: Canada granting US border agents 'expanded' powers
  • Bill C-23, also known as the Preclearance Act of 2016, gives several new powers to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers who conduct preclearance security checks of Canadian passengers before they board US-bound flights.
  • Those expanded powers include the ability to carry firearms and conduct strip-searches in Canadian airports, as well as the authority to detain Canadians should they decide to withdraw from preclearance procedures.

It's not the 70's anymore, my friend. (YouTube) Eh-h-h-h!

Br-r-r-r-r!  We've hit an ICE-y slope, not that American law enforcement didn't invade Canada long before Bill C-23.  Funny how this article about an American State Trooper who arrested a man on Canadian soil  (and got her knuckles gently rapped) gives the impression that State Troopers are not active inside Canada on a regular basis. But it couldn't have been a mere mistake: the officer was no neophyte after 7 years on the force and having previously received a commendation.

I remember seeing other similar articles, but they seem to have disappeared. Strangely, the CBC reported on a recent shootout - under the heading "British Columbia"-- that they say took place in the US -- and they even provided a map so we could see exactly where it happened. Why did the CBC report an officer-down American shooting and file it under B.C.?  All of the four commenters asked the same question.

If it actually did happen inside the Canadian border, would they be allowed to say so?

Remember how, immediately after 9/11, the news media reported over and over, and over again, that "Everything has Changed"? They weren't kidding. And virtually every "terror" attack that's happened since in the US or Canada, and even in the UK, contain serious earmarks of False Flag.  A dead giveaway is that the perps have almost invariably been reported as "previously known to police".

Another is that, since 9/11, the RCMP have been outed at least twice for setting up terror events:

Globe&Mail: B.C. bomb plotters set free after judge rules RCMP entrapped pair
  • A British Columbia couple convicted of terrorism charges have had their verdicts tossed out in a scathing court decision that flays the RCMP for its "egregious" conduct in manipulating naive suspects into carrying out a police-manufactured crime.

Another instance:

ZeroHedge: The Ever-Growing List of ADMITTED False Flag Attacks
  • (50) The oversight agency for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police admitted that – at the G20 protests in Toronto in 2010 – undercover police officers were arrested with a group of protesters. Videos and photos (see this and this, for example) show that violent protesters wore very similar boots and other gear as the police, and carried police batons. The Globe and Mail reports that the undercover officers planned the targets for violent attack, and the police failed to stop the attacks.

Do you think this might indicate that the intention has been to make us all so afraid of terrorism that we will voluntarily, gradually, be willing to tolerate all sorts of losses of freedoms, and especially to submit to whatever humiliation border guards decide to put us through?  Silly question?

One must never forget the Toronto 18 (PDF file), the prime instigator of which was an RCMP plant who, having a certain amount of inside skinny on both CSIS and the RCMP, was able to bilk them out of huge dollars!

Is it so hard to believe that the all-pervasive predictions that 9/11 would "change everything" might affect Canadians as well? How amazingly swiftly the US enacted its Patriot Act that allowed the losses of all sorts of freedoms for Americans, and how soon Canada followed suit with its Security Certificate, so that Mohamed Harkat, an Algerian immigrant, married to a Canadian, has not been able to breathe a free breath since.

Wikipedia:
  • According to the Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, the overarching agency dealing with the law, the security certificate provision has existed in "one form or another for over 20 years.

First of all, "one form or another" are blatant weasel words signifying nothing, and second of all, the Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness did not even exist before 2003.

The Brits were way ahead of us in preparedness, as I discovered in late 2001 when I had to submit at Heathrow to a body search, which was a bit shocking, though I knew why and that it was only the beginning of what was to be a series of drastic measures taken to convince us all of the spectre of terror on every dimly lit street corner.

When we start to fear, we tend to look to the parent-figure government to protect us. But the government does not necessarily, in fact probably does not, have our personal best interests at heart. Governments and corporations deal in statistics, not in individual needs.

Regarding Heathrow's updated security methods:
  • The Department for Transport considers that there are no known health effects from the scanners in use at Heathrow. The only alternative that can be offered to a scanner is a private search which allows for a more extensive hand-search than usual. Passengers will be escorted to a different location in the airport from the main search area (eg a private search room). The private search may involve the loosening and/or removal of clothing. A person undergoing a private search may ask to be accompanied by a witness. This alternative screening method will take significantly more time than passing through a security scanner.

So, they're just guessing that there are no adverse health effects from scanners and there may well be no chance at all that this will ever be proven. The true situation may eventually, if not already, be known to statisticians, and as I said earlier, that's what governments deal in. They also know that very few people will choose the invasive and "more extensive" hand search over a quick scan, and will settle for the lesser of the two evils the government offers.

9/11 has allowed for a much more limited version of "freedom of choice". And people do become enured to the status quo. Governments count on that.

But at least one should not forget what the RCMP did to Robert Dziekanski (YouTube). Did you know that "Dziekanski" has become a verb, the definition of which is "to equivocate" or "rationalize"?

Yet:

CDNEncyclopedia:
  • Despite a series of scandals in recent decades, the RCMP remains one of Canada's most iconic national institutions.

There's even a new book out that rationalizes on the RCMP's behalf -- by sympathetically  interviewing the equivocators themselves! In fact, the author talks practically a whole book just rationalizing his reasons for writing it, though he may well be just glossing over his own desire for money and fame.

The RCMP is an "iconic institution" that knows nothing at all about the disappearances of a couple of thousand Indigenous women, and that fact doesn't seem to surprise or upset our government leadership, Left or Right. These less-than-admirable traits alone do not scratch the surface of the secrets our governments will continue to hide or disguise in its efforts to be seen as protecting our freedoms while attempting to limit them.

For instance: 5G is not so much about "speed" as it is about greed and covert surveillance. Don't believe me?  Just try to access the "US Dept. of Education"G5 website and see if you don't get the willies.

You've covered a lot of ground in this report

I recall the days one could cross the border on a "where do you live" question and answer- and where were you born? question and answer

and then off you went.. like to a concert or for a twirl around some yukky mall

But no more- now you have to have a passport or that other document to cross-

As for the RCMP. I'm not sure why they remain an iconic canadian institution other then good pr

They've had so many scandals from the west coast to the east (lots of notoriety in Quebec)

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/rcmp-challenges-quebec-request-for-mafia-evidence-1.1131135

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/rcmp-must-submit-montreal-mafia-evidence-to-corruption-inquiry-judge/article4103241/

One would have thought the RCMP would be willing to cooperate when it comes to corruption, but, no...

Charbonneau affair

"For four years in the past decade, the RCMP wiretapped Montreal mob suspects and taped 1.5 million conversations, most of which have never been made public.

The evidence was intercepted during Project Coliseum, a successful crackdown against the clan of Montreal mafia godfather Vito Rizzuto. Less than one per cent of the wiretaps has been disclosed in court proceedings.

"No privilege or restriction prevents the RCMP from giving the inquiry evidence from Project Coliseum," Madam Justice Guylène Beaugé of the Quebec Superior Court said in a 14-page decision."

then there was the 'pig farm' which ties back to many native women- RCMP as well as other police attended parties at the pig farm- along with hell's angels (weird how cops and bikers go hand in hand?)

There used to be more information about this available via a search, but, that's changed as well

Wow, one of my brothers was a cop and a recreational biker too! Must be part of the requirements.

I had forgotten about the pig farm. Thanks for all the input, Penny. Much appreciated.
