... who needs ... well, you know.
I've been keeping a list of headlines that I thought I might find time to fit articles around, and now I've got too many of them. But I can't just throw them away, so I'm going to present them here with a short comment for each.
But first, if anybody knows who said something like: "When the great figure of God appears, can the shooting be far behind", please let me know. I've long been under the impression it came from Mark Twain, but have been unable to locate it online.
Yesterday, when thinking about the weird association of Israel with Saudi Arabia, the phrase "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" popped into my head and I've located a post on that very subject. Washington's Blog has not only given the origin of the quote, but provides numerous graphs and charts to show where these kinds of antithetical relationships have "insanely" occurred.
It's pretty much axiomatic that the Saudi and Israeli leadership have nothing in common except for their animosity toward Iran. But there's this thorny little problem of the Palestinians. Arabs are not supposed to be anti-Arab (Iranians are Persians, so even though they are Muslim it's okay to hate them). It looks like King Salman may have to get this whole Israel/Palestinian peace farce onto some kind of visible track.
There's a lovely photo here of a warm "handshake" between Abbas and Salman, but if you look closely you'll see that Salman is practically breaking Abbas' arm, despite wearing a smile that is positively unctuous.

Next comes this big hoopla over Michael Flynn's confession that he lied to the FBI. Apparently, God told him to do it. The most he can be punished is "up to six months in prison", but it's hard to imagine that will happen. Stephen Lendman says it's all "much ado about nothing" though the corporate media are making huge headlines out of it in order to raise again the issue of Russian interference in the US election.
Well, whadda you know ...

AND NOW ....
ABC Makes "Epic Mistake", Retracts Bombshell Flynn Story
ABC told the Flynn story all wrong - and that's how false news gets spread, folks. Too eager to diss Trump and it's backfired! Everybody who spread the story as fact is rightly embarrassed.
And then there's this:
House Committees Announce Investigation Into Hillary's Approval Of Russia's Uranium One Deal
You remember her, don't you? She's the Pot that called the Kettle black.
Okay, here's a much weirder one, much closer to home. Canada's apparent dilemma concerning the return back home of out-of-work Daesh: best to kill or reintegrate? If this doesn't amount to a confession that Canada looked the other way - or worse, condoned, even bankrolled - these "terrorists", it's hard to imagine how not. PennyforyourThoughts has an insightful take on that matter. I can't help wondering, myself, if Canada has plans for a kinder, gentler Guantanamo.
Next: Just when I was getting over my shock that some of our schools are patrolled by cops, suddenly: Toronto District School Board Removing Police Officers From Schools
It seems they feel that it's more prudent to use the taxpayers' dollars to provide security for the City Hallers. Is Toronto's John Tory a great big Fraidy Cat? Or ... or ... will the aforementioned "Daesh" be given gainful employment closer to home? Just so we don't stop believing in them?
Here's a funny one:
Canadians think their government ministers are doing a good job — if they even know who they are
Whoops! Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland has a Nazi skeleton in her family closet. And now that it's been let out of the bag who Canada's Foreign Minister is, Canadians will be asking her why she doesn't just donate the skeleton to a medical school.
That's right; we've lost interest in knowing who our politicians are, but we do believe they're good guys and that they would never look into our own closets. Oh yeah?
With secrecy oaths signed, 11 MPs and senators set for unprecedented access to national security agencies
Another perk of being a politician - you can help your family business - if you don't get caught at it.

At this point, I think we need to get up and dance for a bit.
