Those who don't know history

... are doomed, period.

Pilger: April 2019: THE ASSANGE ARREST IS A WARNING FROM HISTORY
  • The glimpse of Julian Assange being dragged from the Ecuadorean embassy in London is an emblem of the times. Might against right. Muscle against the law. Indecency against courage. Six policemen manhandled a sick journalist, his eyes wincing against his first natural light in  almost seven years.

Note the smile of satisfaction on the face of the uniformed officer.

Pilger (cont'd):
  • That this outrage happened in the heart of London, in the land of Magna Carta, ought to shame and anger all who fear for "democratic" societies. Assange is a political refugee protected by international law, the recipient of asylum under a strict covenant to which Britain is a signatory. The United Nations made this clear in the legal ruling of its Working Party on Arbitrary Detention.

John Pilger is one of the most credible journalists alive today. I could literally hear his melodic voice as I read his most recent article about a visit to Assange in Belmarsh hellhole, a world that sneers an evil sarcasm in its reminder to "Be happy, be hopeful and laugh often", much the same filthy taunt as 'Arbeit Macht Frei' over the gated entrances of Auschwitz and Dachau, though I'm not sure I'm legally allowed to make such a comparison.

It seems one has also to fear for the Ecuadorian people now that a puppet covers the hand of American "intervention".

Here's the Ecuadorian President who sheltered Assange: Rafael Correa

Correa also:
  • ... sought to move away from Ecuador's neoliberal economic model by reducing the influence of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
  • ... allying himself with Hugo Chávez's Venezuela ... [his] administration increased government spending, reducing poverty, raising the minimum wage and increasing the standard of living in Ecuador. By the end of Correa's tenure, reliance on oil, public expenditures, 2016 earthquakes (more than 650 deaths and damage estimated at the equivalent of about 3% of GDP), and international pressure caused Ecuador's economy to enter a recession, resulting in government spending being slashed.

Should anyone be surprised that Ecuador came under economic attack?  An oil-producing country in sympathy with the Chavez regime elects a leftist president who avoids doing business with the International Monetary Fund?

Here now is the latest Ecuadorian president, a literal imposter who turned Assange over to the British police: Lenín Moreno, who acted as vice president during Correa's administration.

Once elected president (by a small margin):
  • Moreno drastically shifted his political stance, distancing himself from Correa's leftist legacy and making neoliberal changes to both domestic and foreign policy.

Which included tossing Assange to the wolves.

Moreno was nominated for a Nobel prize!  It seems he has a soft spot for disabled people. In actuality, he drew attention to his own physical disability (reportedly caused by gunshot in a robbery attempt) no doubt to mask his ruthless intentions.

Yet another example of why one should take Nobel prize nominees and winners with a grain of salt! It's become like a warning flag that shrieks corruption.

YYC: The Nobel Peace Prize has lost all meaning.

My blogger friend Chycho (home page) has been holding live discussions regarding Assange on YouTube (Part 4) and Twitch (Part 5).

Chycho also offers a YouTube discussion on the State of Education in Our Societies: The Origin of Passive Consumption of Information.

Now I know how I will spend this evening -- catching up with Chycho.

Thanks for the boost, Chycho: Sometimes, when I re-read my stuff, I think I sound like a cranky old lady. Like Maxine: http://www.themorningfunnys.com/maxine-funnys/category/maxine%20at%20work
But it cracks me up just thinking about that.

There's really evil crap going on all over the place and the people I meet in the corridors of my apt. bldg. just talk about their ailments and Christmas coming up. It's like we live in a bubble, and I have to be careful not to burst it.

I may be an old crank, but I'm the liveliest, smiliest person in my immediate vicinity, and people notice it and assume I'm ailment-free and much younger than they are. So, clearly, even if Google hides blogger stuff from public eyes, just having a place to say it like it is is very good for one's health. (Two is's together; never did that before. Another FIRST in life of me.)

You will live long and prosper, Chycho, if you don't stop providing such good leadership. Is that what you really want in this dangerous world? LOL XOXO

I feel you Corinne, very much the same with me. I listen to some of the political conversations that people are having in my vicinity and it blows my mind. Some, unfortunately, have bought into the propaganda with all their might. I even had a friend ask for only main stream sources of news for any discussion of news... amazing I know.

And you are 100% correct, the main reason I started blogging was to stay healthy. As the saying goes, 'Sharing is Caring', and from my experience, caring is what it really means to be happy :)
