The rage against populism is now fuelling a panic about anti-vaxxers and measles.

• ... the ‘let’s get tough’ attitude is woeful. Aaronovitch says that one reason why he sides with ‘the coercers’ is that anti-vaxxers ‘drive me nuts’.

It seems Aaronovitch is afraid of anyone with the guts to think for him/herself.

I've just had an epiphany. I know what the MMR vaccine proponents are afraid of, and it isn't childhood diseases. They're afraid of being wrong!  That's also why governments keep shifting the dates of the ultimate human catastrophe: "global warming" -- scratch that -- "climate change".

If enough kids get measles and everyone sees that it isn't the horror it's been made out to be, it's going to make a lot of people look foolish, but more crucial, it's going to lose money for the Pharmers. So we hear a lot about measles "epidemics", but not so much about the number of fatalities that can be directly attributed.

And forget the so-called studies "proving" vaccines are safe and effective.  First of all, we're not told who paid for those studies. Secondly, the conclusions drawn are so debatable as to make them useless.

Here's one that claims to provide "all you need to know about anti-vaxxers":
They are: Predominantly Wealthy and White 

Gee, maybe also intelligent?

But here's another that's not so certain: QZ.com

• --the Californian, highly educated, wealthy parents who refuse vaccines and have been at the center of the latest measles outbreak may not be the central villain. 

In both articles above, the villainous anti-vaxxers reportedly tend to be Liberal, but here's one that says they're not only Conservative, they also (horrors) don't believe in climate change. So they must really be loonies, right?

The media are conspiracy theorists in that they see the anti-vax movement as a conspiracy.  But apparently, there's no need to worry about so-called "herd immunity" because 90% of parents still get their kids jabbed, and that's all the "herd" needs.  How do you like being equated with cattle or sheep? Or in another case, a "hive".

Unable to attend school if not vaccinated?  That is not democracy; it's more like tyranny.  But, more logically speaking, if an un-vaccinated child can't mingle in school with the obediently vaxxed, then they should not be allowed to attend concerts or the theatre either, nor should they be allowed into public playgrounds. Their neighbours need to put up fences against them; there should be separate sidewalks for vaxxed and unvaxxed, separate swimming pools, separate amusement parks... Will it come to this if the anti-vax movement continues to grow stronger?

If it does then there will be ever more strident condemnations and laws being struck, and everyone surely would see that, if that can happen, then democracy is already dead as a door-nail.

Even the Pharmers know it's too soon to talk about that - so they have focussed on headlining current "epidemic" scares instead. But they are preparing for the loss of their edge as more and more parents awake to the gaps in information.

The vaccine mindwash is already destroying any sense of community.

Here's a personal example.  I live right next door to an old folks home. I have a lot of skills I could offer as a volunteer. I play piano and have sung in front of many audiences; I have taught computer skills in the past; I'm an artist; I still retain a lot of nursing skills from way back when that's what I thought I wanted to do with my life; and of course, I'm a writer.  But they can't use me unless I have a full course of vaccines, and the only vaccinations I've ever had was Small Pox as a child to which I had a severe local and physical reaction, and a BCG injection, as an adult, that my body didn't recognize at all. I've had antibiotics only twice in my life, and both times suffered adverse reactions.

I've never had measles, mumps, strep (my husband had strep throat a couple of times and my son contracted a mild case of scarlet fever as a result, we assume), whooping cough, pneumonia .... need I go on?  But there are all sorts of places where I can't volunteer because, apparently, I'm way too healthy!

You can work in a library with a cold so extreme you've got laryngitis and a wicked cough, but you're still allowed to breathe all over the person you're helping to find a book. (Been there, for sure, but didn't succumb.) If your immune system is weak, you could conceivably die from whatever that person passes on to you, and no amount of vaxxing would save you.

If there were a vaccine for sale against the common cold, you wouldn't be able to work in a library without it.  What more indication do we need to realize it's more about profits than it is about the protection of our health?

There are car accidents every day; people killed, maimed for life. But the roads are clogged with vehicles carrying whole families, babies and all.  That's just one example of induced cognitive dissonance.  If we were really concerned for the lives of our children, we wouldn't allow them to be transported by car. But wait: there's money to be made in the automotive industry, so we're distracted by the fear of childhood diseases instead.

I'd like to see a comparison of deaths and injuries by automobiles, cycling, swimming/boating, skiing, shaken baby, murders and both vaccinated and unvaccinated childhood diseases.

At the very least, people should read the warnings about possible side effects of vaccines:

You may have an allergic reaction to the vaccine. The MMR vaccine may cause a low platelet count, which may lead to internal bleeding. This can be life-threatening.

And then it lists the instances in which you should call 911, and others in which you should call your MD.

Read the lists of additives in vaccines and then, at least, wonder why allergies in kids have skyrocketed.

Supported by the Pharmers and big government, the media label anti-vaxxers as "anti-science", which is a sad indication that we've lost all understanding of what science is supposed to be: INQUIRY, not the Bible, not nearly the final word because scientific investigation is (was) built on and ultimately altered by new information.  So you have to wonder to whom a significant number of scientists have sold their souls.

I"ve said this before, but I'll say it again: when I was a kid we thought nothing of measles, mumps, chicken pox. You got them, you got over them, and from then on you had full immunity from them. I knew of only one polio victim, though I attended several different schools including Sunday School, and he walked with a rather charming limp (he was my first romance). He also had burn scars on his face and hands from an encounter, as a boy, with a small, household fire, and I'm sure there are quite a few children who've been there and done that, yet people still have fireplaces and bonfire events, and still light candles, and keep matches in their cupboards.

Yet those same people are dead scared of the most common childhood diseases. There can be only one reason why: that they've been virtually hypnotized by screaming media reports.

They're told of "surges" in Measles and, yes, measles are contagious, so I guess you could say there were also "surges" when I was a kid.  But nobody lost sleep over it! I didn't know a soul who died from it, or even went deaf from it. My definition of an epidemic is, and should be, whether or not I know someone who had it and died from it.  And I don't!  But I do know someone who suffered dreadful consequences after being injected with the MMR vaccine.

I have a grandson diagnosed as autistic, something that has never occurred before in our joint families, and which manifested directly after he was given the MMR vaccine. He went, after two days of agonized screaming and crying that broke his mother's heart, from a healthy, boisterous, curious, communicating little guy to a virtual mute whose only interest was in shiny, spinning objects. Needless to say, my daughter is an anti-vaxxer, and she has a science degree (biology), so is neither ignorant nor influenced by fear tactics, politics, the media, religion, TV; she simply did her own investigation and drew the only conclusion that could have presented itself.

As for myself, I see newborns as pristine little creatures and wonder how any medical professional can be so callous as to inject multiple disease organisms, chemicals, animal by-products and metals into those tiny baby bodies?  Especially when they know, or ought to know the undeniable risks of any vaccine whatsoever.

My own kids were lucky in that there were fewer vaccines to worry about when they attended school. They both had chicken pox and mumps, and my son had German measles (Rubella) when he was 4, and it was no big deal.  But when I see how the vaccine industry (and that's what it is -- an industry, not a gift from God) has mushroomed and people have been made to fear things once accepted simply as Nature, I'm shocked at the damage that's been done to parental instinct.

Those who tout "freedom" should ask themselves what's free about being forced to lay your own pure, sweet offspring on the altar of "Science" simply in order to avoid being ridiculed, criminalized, ostracized?

This is too much like Abraham and Isaac, though fortunately God backed off his incredibly insane command. But the damage had been done to Abraham's psyche;  he was so traumatised that he remained slavishly open to any other cockamamie notion "God" might try to plant in his brain.

There are indeed lessons to be learned from the Old Testament, so take a good, long look at the ingredients in vaccines, and wonder about whether or not your child deserves better than this.

I don't know why there's no holy book about Mother Nature (although apparently there is a concept called The Book of Nature), but she's the one who knows how to produce immunity naturally. She's the cultivator, not the judge nor the power monger, and she's above playing tricks with your psyche.

She knows who is the real enemy of Life: Greed.  Greed has caused famines, and there's a reason why it's listed as one of the Seven Deadly Sins which are known to be "fatal to spiritual progress".  If the motive of Greed has any beneficial effect at all it is purely by accident since the prime motive is not to benefit anything or anyone other than itself.

Here's a Forbes writer (a biomedical engineer - not a physician, so no hands-on knowledge of what he's reporting) who is so vehemently biased that one can only surmise he's been paid to trash anti-vaxxers while obstinately refusing to provide links to the objects of his derision for fear their words might ring true.

His article is pure innuendo: "no one has died of it" was not sufficient, he had to add "yet" to induce fear. Could it be there's a reason the details are so scant in reports of epidemics while the hype is so prominent? Here's something to keep in mind about the mainstream media:

• -- suppressing reporting that top officials don’t want made public.
• In fact, some prominent American pundits have gone so far as to insist that this symbiotic relationship is precisely what makes someone a journalist.

If you watch this neutral YouTube interview of the much maligned Dr. Andrew Wakefield you might get a hint that there are powerful forces  trying to keep the public ignorant.  His sin was that he, along with others, wrote a paper about his findings regarding the MMR, submitted it for peer review, and it was published. Unfortunately it ended up being yanked, and he lost his licence to practise.

No freedom of speech in the vax world?

One man, journalist Brian Deer, via the Sunday Times, was the front man behind the quashing of Wakefield's views. That pretty much says it all for me about the quality of the information against him.  Deer felt that Wakefield had "conflicts of interest" - as if Deer himself did not, and does not.

Deer accused Wakefield of having "commercial interests", which really does more to reveal the source of the attack against him. The Pharmers won, thanks to Brian Deer and the Sunday Times.

Wakefield's fate has no doubt served as a powerful deterrent to similar scientific research. And we still imagine that we live in "freedom".  People in Toronto who merely counsel caution concerning vaccines have had their posters arbitrarily removed from public view by city authorities.  Now there is only one point of view allowed regarding vaccines.  You can't get more Orwellian than that!
