The Nobel "Peace" Prize Has Lost All Meaning

... which is why they should go ahead and give one to Trump -- if for no reason other than that his nuclear button is bigger than Kim Jong-Un's.

Republican governors back Trump's nomination for Nobel peace prize
  • Seven governors write letter to Nobel committee praising Trump for ‘transformative efforts to bring peace to the Korean peninsula’

The "Peace" Prize is a huge farce, and anybody who accepts it should be at least a little bit embarrassed. All that's required is that your cronies and hangers-on put in a few glowing words for you.

Same goes with the Order of Canada. The recipients are politicians, journalists, writers, movie makers; quite a few of whom most Canadians can barely recall for all the lasting, beneficial effect they had on the life of the average Canadian. But at least it isn't handed out until after the recipient has actually accomplished something.

Take Obama, for instance -- the so-called man of peace who oversaw "at least seven" horrendously nasty assaults on countries not his own. And his way of reducing the number of American soldiers coming home in body bags was not to stop the assaults but:
  •  ... he vastly expanded the role of elite commando units and the use of new technology, including armed drones and cyber weapons.

Making death and destruction impersonal, and lucrative for the military/industrial complex that Eisenhower named and warned about. Was George Soros, "close friend" of Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, instrumental in Obama's "Peace" Prize?  Can you blame me for wondering?

He most certainly was behind this one:

Journal-neo: (all emphasis mine)
  • In West Africa George Soros backed a former Open Society employee of his, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, giving her international publicity and through his influence, even arranging a Nobel Peace Prize for her in 2011, insuring her [re-]election as president.
  • Once in office, President Sirleaf opened the doors for Soros to take over major Liberian gold and base metals assets along with his partner, Nathaniel Rothschild. One of her first acts as President was to also invite the Pentagon’s new Africa Command, AFRICOM, into Liberia whose purpose as a Liberian investigation revealed, was to “protect George Soros and Rothschild mining operations in West Africa rather than champion stability and human rights.”

I don't see anything in the Nobel blurb that suggests Sirleaf won it for actively supporting women's rights; it's merely alluded to in this generalized statement:
  • "Women often suffer most when wars and conflicts erupt."
The rest is about how she supported a peace agreement that had already been in place for two years before she took office -- plus "social and economic development". How vague is that, eh?

BBC:
  • Many of these women launched a mass peace movement in 2003 that helped finally end war. They organised sex strikes, until their men put down their arms. They forced a meeting with President Charles Taylor, getting him to agree to go to Ghana for peace talks. Once there, they surrounded the room threatening to take off their clothes until some sort of peace deal was reached.
  • It was these women who then rallied the country to vote for Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in 2005.
Activist Leymah Gbowee, who was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize alongside President Sirleaf,  later acknowledged that:
  • Mrs Sirleaf will always be remembered for becoming the continent's first elected female president. But for Ms Gbowee, that is all she has achieved.
  • "In terms of delivering a women's agenda we really didn't see that," she said...
  • "She's said she's not a feminist, that feminism is extremism," she exclaimed. "I say, well, if it is I'm a proud extremist."
  • Despite sharing the title of Nobel Laureate, Mrs Sirleaf and Ms Gbowee haven't spoken since Ms Gbowee said she "criticised her government for corruption and nepotism".

Sirleaf was later one of the persons listed in the notorious Paradise Papers, along with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles.

Do you wonder who's behind the move to Nobel the Queen of England? Me too. She's the Queen, for pete's sake. What higher honour could be bestowed on her?

Okay, I've decided she deserves the Nobel because it's become just as redundant as the monarchy itself.

The medal for courage awarded to the Cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz - now that's appropriate, and deeply meaningful to all of us!
