The Law Supports Whom Again?

Oh, right: the wealthy.

Jason Kenny says it outright: the [Wet'suwet'en supporters'] barricades are scaring away investment ...

It's a given. Everyone knows it. So why in the world would anyone imagine that our politicians would ever put first the interests of anyone other than the entities with the financial power to make or break them personally?

Trudeau tells the Wet'suwet'en leaders basically: We've given you time to change your minds; you haven't; so now we're flat-out telling you to get out of the way.

There never was a choice; there never are solutions to the problems of Canada's first peoples because the entities with an interest in exploiting the lands they're on want to appear supportive while doing everything in their power to covertly degrade them.

Canada's leadership might ask nicely, at first, to show how humane they are, but if they get a "no", then it's no more mister nice-guy. The land is for exploitation and profit; not for the protection of those who merely wish to live peacefully on it and from it, in harmony with Nature and their own historical teachings.

I personally suspect that the reason the disappearances of so many native women has not been discovered is because it's already known: fewer women, fewer children, smaller population to have to keep under the thumb.

Related on YYC: Canada's Eugenics Program: Sterilization of Indigenous Women ... and the difference between "encouraged" and "coerced".

TheTyee: RCMP Handling of Wet’suwet’en Protests Mirrors Complaints in New Brunswick
  • Almost 12 months after receiving [New Brunswick] report from complaints commission, RCMP still hasn’t responded.

Does this sound like the RCMP calling the shots instead of a government-appointed complaints commission?  It sure does to me. Who or what has given them the power to no longer "serve" and "protect" under the authority of an elected government?

Meanwhile ...
  • RCMP have been accused of over-policing the area while cases into murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls remain unsolved. Those opposed to the pipeline have also pointed to last year’s final report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, which connects resource extraction projects to an increase in violence against women.
  • Coastal GasLink is building a work camp to house up to 400 people in the area. Transient workers housed in “man camps” are a major concern, according to the missing women’s report, as high-paying, high-stress jobs contribute to an increase in drug and alcohol abuse, sexual assaults and domestic violence.
  • At a news conference in Vancouver this morning, Delee Nikal, a Wet’suwet’en nation member from the Gidimt’en clan, named a half dozen close female friends and family members who have gone missing throughout her lifetime. She said it’s just one of the ways RCMP have let the Wet’suwet’en people down.
  • “There are no answers for the reasons they went missing. There are no perpetrators that have been found. Yet we can see militarized forces out on our territories, keeping us from our own land, from land that our ancestors took care of,” Nikal said.

Reclaiming Power and Place: The Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls

From the preamble:
  • Experts and Knowledge Keepers spoke to specific colonial and patriarchal policies that displaced women from their traditional roles in communities and governance and diminished their status in society, leaving them vulnerable to violence.

As far as I'm concerned, Justin Trudeau can grow all the beards he likes to hide his "Calendar Boy" image, but his lack of a spine and perhaps even a soul is becoming all too obvious.

Interestingly, the First World War established what a national icon can actually be at his core:

From History.com:
  • Paul Von Hindenburg (1847-1934) A national hero for his early victories, Hindenburg later drew the United States into battle with his use of submarine warfare. After retiring again in 1919, he became president of the Weimar Republic in 1925, and died shortly after naming Adolf Hitler the German chancellor.

I've just finished reading F. Scott Fitzgerald's "This Side of Paradise" in which, towards the end, there is a chilling statement from the young protagonist, Amory, whose time at university is coming to a close, as had also WW1.

The scene takes place in February and the weather in Princeton, New Jersey, is the same as the February I see outside my window now, (still watching for "climate change") though F. Scott wrote the book in 1920 and was himself quite familiar with New Jersey weather.

In the section titled: "The End of Many Things", Amory talks about the superman phenomenon and what it entails:
  • "He's absolutely irreconcilable with any Utopia.  As long as he occurs, there's trouble and all the latent evil that make a crowd list and sway when he talks" ... "he is a gifted man without a moral sense."
  • "I think the worst thing to contemplate is this - it's all happened before, how soon will it happen again? Fifty years after Waterloo Napoleon was as much a hero to English school children as Wellington.  How do we know our grandchildren won't idolize Von Hindenburg the same way?"
  • "What brings it about?"
  • "Time, damn it, and the historian. If we could only learn to look on evil as evil, whether it's clothed in filth or monotony or magnificence."

Heads of nations have united against something they have chosen to call "climate change" because it is the least specific term upon which they could all agree. In the interests of covert control of whole populations by overtly "protecting" them from the effects of "climate change" while concentrating the power of wealth into the hands of a select few, they are willing to chemically destroy both land and sea and the denizens therein.

Perhaps they already have tickets to Mars?

I have re-purposed an acronym lately.

In my lexicon, the acronym 'FOG', formerly suggested as part of our town's waste management & recycling system as 'Fats Oils & Grease', has been commandeered of late to represent the 'Forces Of Greed'.

Apt though the original use may have been, given the presence of dolts like Jason Kenny, I suspect even Greta Thunberg herself would condone my re appropriation.

Sounds about right to me, Brian. Thanks for posting. It's really good to have you back in touch again.

I hate the plethora of acronyms we're tortured with nowadays, but you've made this one shine!

PS: Doesn't it freak you out that Jason Kenny and John Baird are back in the picture again? It was such a relief when they disappeared along with Harper. Of course, he's still lurking in the Con background, providing his wisdom, and all.

Hey Yaya:

Back when all this started (pipeline) I commented likely at Greencrow's place how 'clever' it was to have the native people own the pipeline. It was classic divide and conquer.
There are many native peoples very much for it. And those opposed. Division.

I should also mention the presence of David Suzuki with those opposed is bothersome to me. He's so untrustworthy. He's part and parcel of the whole "climate change" psyop

Yaya:

"Heads of nations have united against something they have chosen to call "climate change" because it is the least specific term upon which they could all agree. In the interests of covert control of whole populations by overtly "protecting" them from the effects of "climate change" while concentrating the power of wealth into the hands of a select few"

That summarizes it very well.
I left off the rest because it doesn't seem likely there intent is to destroy the land and sea- not entirely.

Considering the push to move people into the tightly controlled smart cities, it seems more likely to me they are willing to destroy some land and some water and leave lots of it for themselves to use. Unfettered by the pesky serf crowd.
Just my thoughts that's all

Hi Penny:

Well, this is interesting; while you've been writing to me, I've been writing to you about Turkey ;--) Sorry I was so wordy.

Yeah, you're probably right that the monsters aren't ready yet to fly off to another planet.

And I've commented very negatively about Suzuki in the past, so we're on the same wave-length there, for sure. It seems he's taking the side of Mother Earth because he knows the plunder of Her is a done deal anyway, and it could earn him some TV spots and donations to his "Foundation".

When you've got influential profit converts within a society, as the Wet'suwet'en people sadly now have, you've got something like a Coronavirus. It doesn't bode well for the long-range outcome for First Nations peoples in general.

I sure hope we're wrong.

don't worry about the 'wordy' aspect. I enjoyed it.
I left you and even wordier response. Stop by and read it.

I do think the Trudeau government knew exactly what they were doing when the set up the native pipeline ownership.

Trudeau can play mediator or settler between the people.
This wasn't designed to end well- It was designed to attain a goal.

As for the natives who support the project? Who can blame them? They are looking at the potential for years of very good paying jobs. (globe and mail did a big report on this yesterday and I did read it)

It's the nature of the beast, I guess.

Yeah, who can blame them? I guess that's why money is traditionally "the root of all evil". It's too tempting when it's offered and people forget to protect their own souls.

Thank you again, 100% bang on.

By the way, coincidences coincidences, just before I read your post I watched Chris Hedge's "On Contact: Collapse of Weimar Germany with Benjamin Hett" https://youtu.be/j9Mu_tWfXVc ... cool to see great minds reference the same periods in history to shine a light on our current political perdicaments.
