UPDATED:

Politicians prove lockdowns unnecessary -

But to maintain the pretence, three little responses, when caught icing-handed, are all that's required: "sorry", "didn't know", "won't happen again".

In fact, some (or all) actually knew in advance that they "didn't know".

===================

UPDATE: Wednesday Jan 6:

WAKE-UP PEOPLE - THE COVID SCARE IS A SCAM!

Even a top medical professional doesn't take the rules seriously:

  • Ontario hospital CEO [Tom Stewart] who vacationed in Dominican Republic
  • Hamilton Conservative MP David Sweet travelled to U.S. over holidays -- Sweet and Calgary MP Ron Liepert were given approval by the party's whip to undertake "essential travel" to the United States.
  • Senator Don Plett vacationed in Mexico over the holidays despite pandemic advisory on travel

From Calgary Herald: I just wanted to disconnect': MLA Tany Yao apologizes for being unreachable in Mexico ... former chief of staff  Jamie Huckabay visited the U.K. over the holidays ... MLA Jeremy Nixon travelled to Hawaii in December. MLA Jason Stephan, visited Arizona.

If any Liberals sinned (this time) the CBC is not saying, and past sinner Trudeau is tsk-tsking the current infractions.

There are more:

WesternStandard: UCP Energy Minister Sonya Savage’s press secretary Kavi Bal – along with the minister herself – both travelled to BC despite the fact the province was in a full COVID-19 lockdown.

WesternStandard: Calgary Mayor's Chief of Staff Devery Corbin travelled to Hawaii.

These are the good times being had by governmental personalities while the taxpayer sits in lockdown behind a mask.

The governmental system itself is promoting ANARCHY.

====================

UPDATE: Monday Jan 4:
MLA Tracy Allard has gotten grief from her constituents (though not from her boss) and it's so far an anonymous rumour, but she's said to be planning to resign her Cabinet post).

Isn't it time for ALL constituents to speak up?  Or at least take off the ridiculous masks!

====================

Jan 3:

Anyone voting for any of the following forgiven miscreants in the next election is in need of mental adjustment:

CTV-Edmonton: Premier Kenney Declines Sanctions Over International Travel
  • It had already been revealed that MLA Pat Rehn travelled to Mexico, Municipal Affairs Minister Tracy Allard travelled to Hawaii, but on Friday the party confirmed that MLAs Tanya Fir and Jeremy Nixon both travelled to the U.S.
  • Despite that, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney says he won't discipline members of his government and staff for travelling abroad over the holidays in contravention of public health advice.

Then there's Federal NDP Nicky Ashton and her recent trip to Greece -- NatNewsWatch

Nicky Ashton had a good reason, she thought: her granny was/is "sick" and/or "dying", depending on who's saying it in what context.  I'm a granny myself and I'm not sick, but I'm dying, tiny bit by tiny bit. Could be tomorrow (one never knows); could be in the not too distant future (I had a dream that I'm going to die when I'm 84).  Needless to say, I'm living it up till such time -- all by myself, of course, because nobody's allowed to visit me.

This is not sour grapes on my part. I'm lucky to still be independent. There are plenty of dying grannies in Long Term Care "homes" who've been deprived of comfort from their relatives due to the "pandemic". The loneliness, alone, is killing them. Why not just break the rules and march en masse into the We-Don't-Care Homes -- (to be fair, they did begin to care a bit right after it became public that up until now their greatest interest has been in profits) -- and threaten to breathe on the keepers if they don't get out of the way?

I'd like to know if Ashton wore a mask and distanced the whole time she was with her Granny (or peered at her through a window, like so many other grandchildren have had to do). But we can't know that, especially now that it's obvious she's not being entirely up front.

Things seem pretty dire in Greece: lockdowns, masks, etc. Odd that Greek authorities okayed her visit to an elderly person in the first place.

It seems that most politicians carry a gene called "confabulation" (a plausible but imaginary memory bank that fills in uncomfortable gaps). The truth tends to reveal itself to the rest of us in what they do not say.

Yes, there were other wayward souls, plenty of others!

There's Ontario's Rod Phillips: Calgary Herald:
  • Rod Phillips resigned from his former role as Ontario finance minister on Thursday after travelling to the Caribbean over the holiday season.
  • “Doug Ford admittedly knew about Phillips’ vacation for two weeks and did nothing to stop it,”

And Quebec's Pierre Arcand: NatNewsWatch:
  • Quebec Liberal member Pierre Arcand is being asked to return home amid mounting criticism over his decision to vacation in the Caribbean.
  • Liberal Leader Dominique Anglade knew about and claims to have tried to discourage him, but didn't prohibit him for doing so.  [And now she's asked him politely to please come home, when he can, no rush.]

Naturally, Arcand expressed regret and promised not to do it again.  What more could anyone ask of him?  Notice how Anglade attempts to get herself off the hook by stating that she "tried to discourage him"?  But she KNEW he was going and she KEPT HIS SECRET. In other words, she collaborated in a lockdown infraction.

And the list goes on:

There's Saskatchewan Highways Minister Joe Hargrave (NatNewsWatch) who just had to get to California, and only now realizes it was an "error in judgement".  In other words: he judged that nobody would find out, and he's sorry that they did, but not likely sorry that he gets to continue his vacation due to now being in California's visitors' quarantine.

Hands up all who wouldn't like to be quarantined in California at this time of the year.

So many lovely people having their cake and eating it too.

Like all the others (and that includes Ford's cottage trip, Trudeau's cottage trip last Easter -- complete with motorcade -- and Andrew Scheer, Elizabeth May and others sharing a tiny plane together with small children) these people are all really, really sorry for how things looked; not for the deed itself -- because they didn't speak "moistly".

How does one NOT speak moistly? Did any of these icons ever attend a high school science class?

What's particularly galling about Trudeau's cottage trip is his wife's Instagram message:

From Narcity:
  • [She] posted photos of the family all together playing games and doing an Easter egg hunt.
  • In the caption, she wrote, "even though families across the country are having to get a little creative and celebrate a bit differently this year, we're all in this together."

Well I, for one, am GLAD all of the above broke the rules; it shouts that they know the "pandemic"  dangers are bogus and the lockdown rules are a scam.  It also reveals that they aren't terribly self-disciplined and, for the country as a whole, that should be more worrying than any "Covid" bug.

They have the power to make all Canadians suffer.

It's interesting to note that multiple Conservative MP's are planning to step down at the next election. One might hope it's because they know something the government isn't telling us and plan to make statements to that effect after they've collected their final pay cheques.

"To spend more time with family," is the usual reason given, no matter what the truth may be, although Peter Kent may be feeling his age.  Candor is a rare trait in a politician at the best of times, the very word "politician' being officially synonymous with subterfuge and double dealing:

Artha: Politician: ~ noun
 1. a leader engaged in civil administration
 2. a person active in party politics
 3. a schemer who tries to gain advantage in an organization in sly or underhanded ways

There's lots more discussion about the situation with Ford and Phillips. I'm not the only one, naturally, who is asking questions:

TVO.org: So Many Questions About an Inexplicable Decision
  • Did he know his people were, in fact, tweeting photos in his absence, or did they just take it upon themselves to do so?
  • Given that his staff surely knew he was out of the country, did none of them suggest to him that putting out those kinds of tweets would look deceptive, and maybe they shouldn’t do it?
  • The premier says he hadn’t known that Phillips had left the country, but only found out after the fact when his minister was already down south. Why didn’t he chew him out right at that moment and order him to come home immediately?
  • Why would Phillips do a Zoom meeting from St. Barts, complete with a phony backdrop of Queen’s Park, again conveying the impression he was still in Ontario?
  • Why would Phillips (or his staff) tweet out a “Merry Christmas” video of the treasurer sitting in front of a fireplace, sipping on eggnog, when he was actually vacationing in sunnier climes?

The CBC talks about it some more (it's okay for them to do so because he's not a Liberal), and then takes pains to assure us there were no Federal Liberals misbehaving over the Christmas Holidays, or at least not outed for it.

I wish the CBC hadn't been so reassuring; it has the effect of bolstering the "conspiracy theory" theory upheld by the media who like to refer to it ad nauseam, often in knee-jerk fashion.  I don't believe for a second that no Liberals broke their own rules.  No doubt, after the disclosures last Spring, they've found a quieter way to have their own way.  Or else the 5-year tax plan Trudeau bestowed on certain media is having the desired effect. The government giveth and can no doubt taketh where it deemeth it necessary.

From Breitbart: Nov. 2018
  • Canada’s Finance Minister Bill Morneau said, “We’ve made some investments to ensure that we continue that we have an important free press to ensure that we have a strong and healthy democracy. … To protect the vital role that independent news media play in our democracy and in our communities, we will be introducing measures to help support journalism in Canada.”

Uh, where's Morneau now -- after double-talking for Trudeau all this time? He hadda Hit the Road, Jack. (Ray Charles}.  He took the fall for the WE fiasco, but, of course, it was an upwards fall.

The short and long of it: honest government has no place in the halls of journalism, yet former journalists, such as Chrystia Freeland, are not only eligible to run for office and hold crucial positions within government, it's not uncommon for a former Finance Minister to eventually take the reins of government itself.  The word "incestuous" comes to mind.  Do I have an unkempt mind? Yeah, me and also the dictionary: Artha - Incestuous - "excessive intimacy".

Wikipedia has some serious faults, but where else would you find an historical list of dishonest shenanigans on the part of Canadian politicians - from Day One, beginning with Souse John A. Macdonald?  And these are merely the ones that floated to the top of the slush bin.

By rights, if we're not all by now "conspiracy theorists", then we're not paying attention. For instance, I believe that Rod Phillips is his own doppelgänger!

Not really.

What happened *first* is the exaggeration and deformation of a story. The truth is the youngster was not obeying police orders — which were not difficult to obey. The youngster is guilty of *that*, and the police got tough because of *that*.

As one who cares about the truth,
you should dislike the misrepresentation of stories.

There are more in the news, but I think I've made my point. And your point, Brian, is an excellent one. "tasered for playing pond hockey"? My gawd.

I can hardly keep up with the flood of miscreants, and all of their excellent reasons (excuses).

In pennance, they are actually relieving themselves of work (stepping down from committees) while still drawing a paycheque. Expecting it to eventually all blow over, no doubt.

UPDATE: A hurricane of rage is hammering the UCP government and Premier Jason Kenney for the thoughtless, careless, arrogant travel to holiday places by his minions, and the refusal to fire or discipline any one of them.
https://calgaryherald.com/opinion/columnists/braid-government-faces-building-fury-over-holiday-travel-during-covid-19-restrictions

If it's a real hurricane, it should blow right across the whole country, shouldn't it? All of these infractions indicate that the Covid restrictions have been a hoax on the public all along.

No. These violations *do not* indicate a hoax.

It *always* happens that some officials violate some rules. It happens even in wartime. That would not imply there wasn't a real war going on.

Guess you can say their attitude is THEY will eat cake but when WE try to eat cake while wearing a mask (a symbol of enslavement) the rules rule. THEY will apologize, when caught, but their fingers will be crossed behind their backs.

I liked Del Bigtree's analogy of how THEY are essentially calling a mulligan but in the rules of golf that means the others get a mulligan too. WE are the others, so everybody go ahead and claim a mulligan too. Do something to break one of their illogical mandates. Do it with a sly smile and a clear conscience.

That *a few* officials violated a rule *does not* give you justification to do the same. *The public* needs you to refrain from doing that.

*The public* needs you to *refrain from* causing the lock-downs to be lengthened because of rising daily case counts — that your suggestion would contribute to.

I just cancelled my teeth cleaning appointment, made a year ago, because I'm only supposed to go out for "essentials" like food. Actually, they probably would have let me in as long as I wore a mask in the waiting room.

My brain is tired. I think the strangest things. Like, if they banish cash (and they clearly intend to) will beggars carry card machines?

I just now walked down five floors and checked my mail box without a mask on. But I didn't have the wind to walk back up so I steeled myself as the elevator came down, knowing that a masked person getting off might rate me out. Instead, the woman wasn't wearing a mask either! We both said hello and carried on with our business. Just like real people!

I've seen Del's movie VAXXED, but somehow missed the the "uncut" ABC interview about it, so that will be my dinner-time treat. I'm really getting to like him and, but for you, I might not have known he exists.

Thanks for everything, M.R.

I have a feeling I've only scratched the surface of the travelling miscreants in government. But as far as I'm concerned, the ones who got caught have proven that Covid isn't wildly infectious.

Midas
6/1/2021 12:51:24 pm

> ... Covid isn't wildly infectious.

Now *there's* a justified observation about the coronavirus, that fits the data, and it also debunks Rancourt's implication of the virus bypassing masks and lingering in the air -- ready to infect many, many other people.

Rancourt makes a case for the virus being *highly transmissible* through the air, unstoppable by a mask or a plastic shield, and two-meter distancing, and yet daily case counts *do not* show explosive growth in new cases per day.

Currently, new cases per day show each infected person transmitting the coronavirus to *less than two* other persons. Typically, those other persons are members of the same family, or close group.

The coronavirus is not so infectious that it bypasses barriers, so measures to hinder its spread *do* make an impact -- if enough people follow the rules.

> POLITICIANS PROVE LOCKDOWNS UNNECESSARY

"Politicians" *are not* proving any such thing.

If you want to see what happens under fewer restrictions, take a look at Sweden. Sweden has *higher* case counts, and death counts, per 100,000 people, than Canada has.

By December 20th:

Sweden population: 10.2 million
total COVID-19 cases 384,000 ... 3,765 per 100,000 ppl
total COVID-19 deaths: 8,600 ... 84 per 100,000 ppl

Canada population 37.6 million
total COVID-19 cases 508,000 ... 1,351 per 100,000 ppl
total COVID-19 deaths: 14,000 ... 37 per 100,000 ppl

Sweden has had almost three times as many cases,
and more than twice as many deaths,
as Canada has had.

No problem.

Total Cases and Total deaths:

Population sizes:
Google: population of sweden
Google: population of canada

Total Cases per 100,000 people =
Total Cases x (100,000 / population)

Total Deaths per 100,000 people =
Total Deaths x (100,000 / population)

Note that Sweden is typically 10 days late in finalising accurate COVID-19 death counts. Therefore, one must avoid relying on Swedish COVID-19 death counts from the previous 10 days.

Here's a good compilation of the "cake eaters", showing just how much they are really worried (NOT) about "the covids" getting them. True North kept track. The icing on the cake is a short video from that voice of reason, Anthony Furey.
https://tnc.news/2021/01/02/every-time-a-canadian-politician-broke-coronavirus-rules/

Every time a Canadian politician broke coronavirus rules (i.e. ate their cake), True North rang a bell.

I think Midas missed the point here. Politicians are keen to scare the beegeebers out of the public but don't seem worried enough themselves to follow their own diktats. Maybe they know that case numbers are meaningless (faulty test = faulty results) and that death numbers attributed to "the covids" include death by pretty much everything, including a kitchen sink falling on your head. OR, maybe they know that there is an agenda in play here, not a virus, and they think they are safe because they are "the insiders".

Oh where or where has the normal flu gone?
Oh where or where can it be?
Now its counts are down and its threat's not strong,
Oh where or where can it be?

I'll bet you know, Yaya, the nursery rhyme I just parodied there.

Ah, Penny, you are just way too logical, informed and freedom-loving. Don't you know you're a danger to society? Haha

I grocery shopped this morning, and a man waiting in line as I was at the checkout, standing at least 10 feet away, tsk-tsk-ed me for not wearing a mask. In a stern, fatherly way, like you'd speak to a child, he said, "You need to remember to wear a mask".

I smiled and said, "I remember masks." And then he didn't know what to say. Wish I could be that cool all the time. LOL

Thanks so much for your contributions here. "Real world magic": priceless!

By the way, if you watch the video on Twitter, there's a point where the cop aims the taser at him and he loses his balance a bit and they grab him and take him off the ice.
https://twitter.com/lolpipewrench/status/1340194440967647232

As a person who was once tasered in the back, and who was too stubborn to show any sign of the pain that shot down my spine -- I just held my breath and waited until it went away -- I think it's quite possible that's how they got him off the ice -- just one quick shot is all it would have taken for him to lose his balance for a second.

I don't think anybody can safely surmise that the guy wasn't actually tasered.

TASER GUIDE:

The minimum distance an officer can shoot their taser gun is 15 feet. That distance is far enough to keep them safe and close enough to take down even the largest opponent.

https://taserguide.com/how-far-can-a-police-taser-shoot/

The shock emitted by a taser gun lasts anywhere from 5 seconds to 30 seconds depending on the model you are firing.

so I'm looking at the stats and am going to ask Midas to explain why it is that
Belarus closer in population size to Sweden had substantially less cases and deaths ( no lockdowns equivalent to the western nations)

Belarus has almost 9.5 million people
Sweden has 10.2 million

Belarus
206,796 positive tests

Deaths:
1,489

Recovered:
188,789
_____________
Sweden
482,284 Positive test resutls

Deaths:
9,262

Recovered Data is N/A

Why the huge difference Midas?
What factors might explain the large difference?

Good grief, Yaya! You were actually tasered! Is that something you could elaborate on? When? Why on earth would they have done that to you? That's horrible!

Indeed, Penny -- real world magic. We seem to have a devoted member of the covidian cult here.

BTW, I keep daily track of Canada's alleged covid deaths and believe me, those who collect and compile the data are quite the slackers. Quebec has frequently dumped high numbers into a single report (probably looked back through days or weeks of death certificates and said hey, that one looks like we can call it covid … and that one … and that one … etc.) One time (May 31st) they dumped 165. Ontario dumped 74 on July 15th. Over the Christmas holidays Alberta and BC death collectors took time off and dumped 3 to 5 days worth at once when they went back to work. It makes for scary, dramatic spikes on the graphs but I distribute the deaths to give my graphs a more realistic appearance. Anyway it's all just a numbers racket. They can increase or decrease the death count according to whatever narrative they are going with at any given time. As for case numbers … pure piffle … don't mean a thing when the PCR test is not fit for purpose.

The Road to Hell (as described in the infamous Liberal Leak) projects a covid mutant (covid-21) arriving on the scene in February. This is when cases and deaths are projected to exceed hospital capacity and send us into "enhanced lockdown restrictions". So far they have been hitting their milestones so let's see what happens in a month or so from now. This road has been paved with very, very bad intentions.

Reply

Yep, M.R. Very, very bad intentions. I'm glad you're watching the stats so closely.

As for my being tasered, I didn't know at the time what had happened, but when I described my experience to my police officer/ forensic photographer brother, he said, "You were tased." He thought it was funny, I guess because I "asked for it", and he knew it wouldn't cause lasting damage.

I'll try to tell the story without being too specific: It was some years ago, during the war-protest heydays, and I was walking toward Parliament Hill to join a large group of Arab women who were mourning the deaths of their families overseas due to the Bush/Obama plan to "restructure the Middle East".

I passed a quartet of full-dress RCMP musicians who were playing jazz music for a few tourists, directly across the street from the Hill. I asked them if they thought what they were doing was appropriate considering the weeping women across the street. One of them said, "We're just following orders, ma'am" and I replied: "You mean like, "Ja, Mein Führer?" And I turned and walked away to cross the street over to the Hill, but the traffic light turned red, so I had to pause.

Suddenly a searing pain shot right down the left side of my back. I froze, confused, but continued staring straight ahead, and after a bit it subsided. The light turned green and I crossed the street, and the pain was gone and never returned. I've never experienced anything like that before or since. When I told my brother about it later on, he laughed and said it was obvious they tased me out of spite.

Tasers were new then; the cops liked them and were eager to use them.

And that's why I feel certain that when the policewoman pointed the taser at the guy on skates, she actually pulled the trigger. She was at the right distance for it, and her partner stayed close to the guy to grab him. The guy was strong, obviously, but he was thrown a bit off-balance by the shock and it was easy for both officers then to pull him off the ice.

The mystery of it is who did the deed. Not likely the musicians, because I don't recall a pause in the music, but they may well have had plain clothes officers standing on the perimeter, ready in case there was any kind of uprising from the Arabs across the street.

Life's a gas, eh?

What an experience! I admire your "never let them know they got you" handling of it. You are one tough cookie. Kudos to you but damn those arrogant, no doubt snickering, "peace" officers and shame on your brother for laughing. A taser hit at a certain instant on the cycle of the cardiac rhythm can be deadly. Thanks for calming my curiosity.

I've only been in one peace march (Bush era -- Iraq War). It was totally uneventful (police just pedalled along with us on their bikes) but it was satisfying. I went back (alone) to the same park it started at one year later to leave a burning candle (safe in a glass container) with a message for peace. But the beat of war still goes on today. Big sigh!

Want to see a ray of hope? Take a look at worldfreedomalliance.org ... there's a lot of good people in this world. Prof. Cahill is an awesome freedom warrior. Yes, as hugely commendable as it is to care about peace and try to remind others of the need for it, peace does not seem to be wanted at all by the movers and groovers.
