CBC: Thousands march maskless in Montreal.

Political Word Games Galore

Truth takes a holiday in the mouths of those claiming to have
our best interests at heart.

CBC: Thousands rally in downtown Montreal to protest Quebec mask rules
  • "some people made a show of embracing each other or exchanging double-cheek kisses."

Oh the horror of it all.
  • In the past, the Quebec government has said that people are allowed to protest. On July 27, responding to protests the previous weekend, Deputy Premier Geneviève Guilbault said there would be "consequences" if there continued to be incidents where people "transgress the rules of public health."
  • "It has nothing to do with taking away anyone's right to protest or express themselves," Guilbault said. "It's obvious that anybody can protest. But nobody has the right to put anyone else's health in danger."

And what can we conclude from that, Ms. Guilbault?  This relates to the protests how?  It all looks pretty consensual to me. I would have been honoured to have received a smackeroo from any one of those intelligent-looking people.

This question alone may be too difficult for the average politician to unravel:
  • "Say we go into a restaurant," she said. "We walk in wearing a mask, because, what, COVID is there? Then we sit down and we can take the masks off because, what, the COVID is gone?"

... and certainly too logical for even the highest court to counter.

Ms. Guilbault (pictured at left) has been a politician since 2017, so by now she knows all the words a politician needs to know. You can learn more about her by clicking on the photo.

Strange. I've been a human since 1940, and life has taught me that adults are each responsible for their own state of health and that of their offspring.

And I doubt that anyone was forced to attend the Montreal protest.

Oh, I do so long to join a real people's protest. I feel smothered by the lethargy that surrounds me.  That alone has got to be bad for my health. Can I sue Kingston residents for damaging my health by a dearth of protest?  Must I move to Toronto to join a group calling themselves "Fearless Ontario" and apparently actually living up to it?

I did find out that there are groups in my town who don't think much of City Hall officials in general, but their website is out of date; no mention of any meetings or protests since the lockdown.  Don't you just hate that?

Moving on:

Below are some of the most egregious political weasel terms:

NatNewsWatch: TO-area Liberal MP Michael Levitt puts family first, announces resignation

Isn't that what they all say when their dream of being a politico sours?

In the beginning, they all say they want to "serve the people" (which one would assume includes their family as well), but then they find that serving the people isn't as much fun as they thought it would be, so, when they finally land an easier job (or get forced out of government) the reason proffered is always that they want to "spend more time with family".

You'd think a guy would realize that with language like that he's a perfect politician!
  • Levitt says he will soon begin a new career as president and CEO of the Canadian Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre, an organization devoted to combating anti-Semitism and promoting human rights.

Anything that could be said or done by the CFSWC has already been said and done. So, piece of cake for Levitt, eh?

Moving on:

USATimesofNews: 25,000 Canadians hospitalized or killed by self-harm last year, research says
  • Experts fear numbers will climb due to stress brought on by the pandemic

But not to worry:
  • The goal is, over time, to identify both gaps in services and those Canadians who are at greatest risk, to guide improvements to community-based mental health services.

In other words, don't hold your breath - unless you have suicide in mind, of course.  (That's not a joke; it's irony.)

NatNewsWatch: Leadership apologizes after report finds systemic racism at human rights museum
  • Many staff members reported that "there was a tendency on the part of management to treat the museum as a profit-oriented corporation having its primary focus on revenue generation to the exclusion of organizational health and the fulfilment of its mandate," the report said.

"Focus on revenue"?  So what else is new? Revenue is what's running the whole Covert "pandemic" operation -- bets being placed; cards being shuffled, some going to the bottom of the deck.

But they apologized, so that makes things better, right? -- except that they're still telling fibs.

The real nitty and also the gritty about the museum scuffle can be found here.

Moving on:

PolicyOptions: Who believes in Covid-19 Conspiracies and Why it Matters
  • A survey of Canadians shows a worrying number of believers more likely to ignore recommended health behaviours. The consequences could be devastating.

You don't even have to read the article.  I can summarize it for you because it's written by just another suck-up poller who imagines that repetition = truth.

15 uses of "conspiracy"; 8 uses of "conspiracies"; 9 uses of "conspiracy theory(ies)"; 29 uses of the word "believe" or "believer(s)" and 3 of "belief(s)".

Oh yeah, and let's not overlook the sexism: male and female responses compared.  What's that in aid of?  To show that women think differently from men? Isn't that against the law now?

The above survey/article was brought to you by a McMaster assistant professor of political science who is also CEO of Vox Pop Labs. His polls "support democracy" and, as proof of that, he is proud to show you which well-known presstitutes pay for and publish his very useful results.

Vox Pop is short for Vox Populi - or "the man in the street". Surely that's illegal now as well.

Nevertheless, Mr. Vox Popper supports democracy by labelling as "conspiracy theory" opinions he knows the powers that be don't want to see showing up in polls.

Whenever there's a totalitarian movement in the works, willing patsies can always be found for a fee. All a pollster propagandist has to do is decide what is pro-freedom, call that a conspiracy theory, load the questions, and then feed the theory to unwitting fish and see how many take the bait.  If they feel they are no longer able to swim freely they are wrong, wrong, wrong, and will need to be re-educated a la 1984.

Image below video: DailyMail:  PETER HITCHENS: People are pictured shopping at Leicester market. It is  a fact, not a ‘conspiracy theory’, that the power of the state is now being used to keep us in a condition of perpetual alarm.

VIDEO:  I don't know how this guy manages to stay on YouTube.

Looks like Leavitt simply wanted to hook up with one of many organizations which comprise the Israel lobby which is where the real power in Canada lies. This formidable, well-financed lobby will take down anyone it sniffs out as being in opposition to its position. It can get downright dirty when focusing on a particular target. Here's just one example:
https://www.thecanadafiles.com/toronto/wrwpinn

I've been enjoying the articles by Peter Hitchens. It's amazing that they even get posted at DM. I notice they never allow comments on Peter's covid pieces.

Apparently Germany is planning another protest (even larger than the first, I hope) on August 29th and barring government repression, there should be participants from nearby European countries there too. You could be one amongst a million marchers, Yaya -- if only you could get there.

And then there's the sad state of locked down affairs in Melbourne, Australia. There's an urgent need for a huge rise of indignation there. I hope it happens and soon. Their premier, Dan Andrews, is guilty of treason, says Max Igan. I agree.

Thanks for the link to the Canada Files, M.R. I didn't know it existed. Do you suppose the over-reaction to the pro-Pal foodery is a sign of suppressed guilt and shame? They're probably only somewhat annoyed about a bunch of make-believe Nazi upstarts because the cops will take care of them if they get out of hand.

I like Hitchens too. I'm about to watch a 50-min video of him being interviewed.

I'm going to watch that Hitchens video later. Thanks. There's a new Dr. Vernon Coleman video up today too.

I don't know what drives that lobby. It won't let even the slightest perceived slight go unpunished. It's like their world of illusions is in danger of collapsing when someone sympathizes with anyone other than them.

Thanks for the Coleman heads-up, M.R. I'm off to see it now.

The last few days I've been getting a "Server Not Found" message on your site only. It's sort of now you see it, now you don't, kind of thing. Right now I'm seeing you loud and clear but thought you might like to know about that message. Maybe it's a glitch on our end ... who knows ... the internet is not something I understand very well.

It's getting scarier by the day, never knowing what they're going to do next (THAT'S by diabolical design), wondering as each season passes will it be our last spring, summer, autumn, winter. Despite this, we just keep plugging along, clinging to whatever scraps of the real normal that remain.

Hi M.R. Weebly acknowledges it had problems at the end of July, but not during August. I suspect, however, they may still be having some minor glitches.

Thanks for telling me. If you see it again, could you let me know please? Sometimes I get a bit paranoid wondering if I might get censored one of these days. (The White Coats website was shut down by the server at one point and YouTube seems almost in a panic to shut down sites that contradict the prevailing propaganda.) Political blogs are continually overlooked in Google search lists as well.

I hear you about scariness and uncertainty. Yes, it is by design. Sometimes I'm sad and sometimes very ANGRY. I've used language lately (when I'm by myself) that would never have come out of my mouth before. We have to be able to envision an end to the madness, and hold onto it no matter what.

Sometime after I posted my comment I checked your site and got that message but here it is much later and its okay again. Sorry I can't be specific about times. It's been an exhausting day -- moving that which has been upstairs (tools, etc.) during our never-ending construction to the basement and that which has been stored in the basement to the upstairs (lost track of what was in some of those boxes). I'm hoping all will get settled into place for the winter and that I'll remember where the new locations are for everything.

It looks like you've got enough to think about right now, M.R. But when you get a chance, could you tell me what browser you're using? If it's Firefox, it could be the settings need a bit of a tweak. I would also suggest having a second browser (I use Opera) to doublecheck an apparent problem, if need be.

So exciting that your house is so close to being finished. If I had my life to live over again, I might include a chance to build my own house. You two should feel very proud.

On a lunch break. This computer has an old version of Mac OS X and only an old version of Firefox will run on it. We accept there are some things it can't do because we want to continue using AppleWorks and Photoshop for as long as possible (they need old Mac OS X). Our other browsers are also too old to be of much use (even less so than Firefox). I hope I got that right (husband knows this stuff, not me).

We've got a more updated laptop but we use it for entertainment (larger screen) -- playing DVDs and searching out internet offerings of old TV shows & movies. We don't have a TV, don't want one either, so this is our cobbled together substitute.

All that to say, it does look like the problem is at our end but we'll just have to limp along with what we've got until it's time to consider upgrading again. Anyway I think it's safe to say that more updated others will be enjoying consistent access your site. Back to moving and cleaning.

If it ain't crippled, no need to fix it. But if you ever do decide to upgrade, I can't recommend Linux Mint highly enough as an operating system. It's free; it's reliable, you don't have to worry about viruses, and you would find there are some great apps to make up for the loss of your current favourites.

Like you, I don't have a TV, but my monitor is large for movie watching and I've been collecting movies for years, so always have entertainment.

Sounds like you have a good life going for you.
