Paying into "climate change" remedies
... through the nose!
Cambridge Dictionary's definition of "through the nose": to pay too much money for something: Example: We paid through the nose to get the car fixed.
It's interesting (to me) that the example used above is dead on what I want to say here today.
NationalObserver: Many Canadian transit agencies are missing made-in-Canada electric buses ...
If governments were truly concerned about "carbon" -- and not just about consolidating the ownership of fossil fuels and using our tax dollars to support the electric car manufacturing industry -- money would be poured into the public transportation systems and populations would be encouraged NOT to rely on cars at all, both for local and long-distance travel.
If Canadians really are afraid of the future due to carbon induced "climate change", they will work to create other kinds of employment more directly related to saving the planet; for instance, actively working to prevent and stop the sickening waste pollution of our waterways, and of course, creating more appropriate jobs, such as for bus drivers.
If religion could find a way to channel fear of God into responsible waste-management and healthier living, that would be a much better use of it than picketing outside abortion clinics and harassing the "different" online.
People could make it their daily gift on the altar to create a little extra time for getting around on foot or by bus. They might find out how surprisingly easy it is to adjust to walking to a bus stop and riding with other people to work and to shopping locations. They'd be amazed at the pleasant conversations they could have on the way, as well.
If Canadians were truly concerned, they would at least test it out.
And, if governments were truly concerned, they would not be "growing the economy" through the wonders of electrical cars, they would be championing public transportation, and walking as means to less pollution and lower medical costs.
To the chagrin of the banks and loan sharks, people might also get themselves out of debt. Your spend-thrift government actually pays lip service to personal debt reduction, but doesn't really hope you will take its advice.
Public transits provides employment, and it's sad that people who ride local and long-distance buses are looked upon as lower-class rather than as gifts to Mother Nature and all of society. Those people may well have more class, less debt and more spending power than folks who jump into their late-model gas/oil guzzler to visit a friend on the next street.
I'm a fan of folks who ride bicycles too, but I wouldn't recommend it just yet. As long as there are cars on the road, it's a scary way to get around.
It's also sad that the job of a city bus driver is not considered anything to aim for, yet those who do it well are among the most multi-skilled persons you're ever going to meet. Just watch one in action. Of course, you'd have to actually take a few bus trips to get the full picture, so here are some of the skills required to be a bus driver.
A top corporate executive often doesn't have as exacting a list of personal and professional qualities. They often only need to have a gift of gab and the ability to motivate people to sell, sell, sell.
Meanwhile our government colludes with mega-wealthy exploiters of whole populations in a hypocritical game of illusion. Take a look at the self-acknowledged thieves with whom Canada has associated itself to the tune of an initial $30 million:
NationalObserver: Canada launches homegrown version of Bill Gates-led clean energy fund
To suggest that this initiative is in any way "homegrown" is misleading at best. Have those guys ever done anything from which they didn't rake in another zillion? They are not "financing", they are investing. Their pockets are their prime interest; it's a game with them -- a game of deception.
Why in the world outsiders are allowed to infiltrate and guide our government is a mystery. Or is it? Have Canadians been fatally dumbed down by meaningless day jobs and stupefying evening TV? Is this why they expect so little of their elected representatives, who unaccountably admire, to the point of being willing pawns of, single-faceted oligarchs?
It sure looks that way. And as a result, they can't see the real disaster coming at them full speed.
Dependence on government for job creation, and loan agencies for their vehicles, measuring out their days with shopaholic credit-card activity, avoiding exercise to the point of jeopardizing their own lives, drinking too much alcohol (because it's promoted as "classy" in every movie and TV show), and now, most likely, searching for solace in legal Mary Jane.
Well, don't worry about "carbon". At the rate things are going, humanity will die off in increasing numbers through stress-induced lethargy and ignorance of its own nature. And this is despite the fact that whole industries are built around this very syndrome, including the cartoon business.
The problem is widely recognized, and platitudes are being tossed at it, but the proffered solutions have nothing to do with the medicated chronically anxious placing their hope in a government guided and influenced by non-elected entities, locked into a societal meme based on having rather than being.
