O'er the ramparts

Gamespot: Storm the gates.

O'er the Ramparts?

Not so's you'd notice.

It's all done indoors nowadays. Fighting computer-simulated epic battles:

From Gamespot:
  • The main component of the attackers' offense {sic] is a giant battering ram they're trying to protect as it advances toward the castle. Each match consists of three parts. The first part ends when the attackers break down the castle's outer gate. Then the attackers must guard their battering ram as it approaches an inner gate. Once that gate falls, the attackers can swarm into the king's courtyard and hack away at him. He's an armor-clad warrior controlled by AI, with attacks that are slow but deadly. If the attackers kill the king, they win.

Exciting, or what?!!!! Is it in our future for real?  Will there be "a born-again world"?

I beg to differ with the following Guardian rabble-rouser. Covid-19 did not change everything -- the governments changed everything and merely used the virus as a cover for economic warfare, with a side-benefit of gaining more control over populations. Fifty or so years from now that's how this insane period will be recorded -- when the perps are conveniently dead and gone and don't have to say "sorry".

The Guardian: Covid-19 has changed everything. Now we need a revolution for a born-again world
  • As global demands for justice and equality gather force, only a truly radical agenda can make it happen

Quite the rabble-rouser, eh?  But whose agenda?

Take a look around. Is this a "born-again" world? Looks more like Dead Again to me.  A lot of young, able-bodied zombies shuffling uneasily down the streets, staring straight ahead, hiding behind masks; showing the world what scaredy-cats look like. Meanwhile their elders go barefaced on the streets and smile and wave as they pass others of their own era, leaving the appropiate distance between them. As if they were in their right minds.

It's touching how it's reported that so many of our military finest, who bravely fought as missionaries against the evil Covid-19 in nursing jails - er - homes, have reportedly tested positive for the dread disease.  Thing is, nobody's telling us whether or not they entered the nursing homes in that condition.  Even the base commander, the guy one would expect to know the details, was irritatingly fuzzy on who was or was not tested in advance of that glorious mission: CBC (Scroll down the page to see video interview).

And nobody has bothered to elucidate this conundrum: that there were plenty of nurses set to pitch in to fill nursing home shortages, but Doug Ford chose the military instead. (See: Scamdemic on YYC)

Problem with the recent reports is that they don't tell us how many of the tested soldiers have or have not exhibited symptoms. The very fact that some tested positive seems designed to make us  see them as braver than ever we knew.

But if the Guardian columnist (above) is correct about a coming backlash against the grave effects of the lockdown, guess who will bravely assist in stamping it out.

I wonder if they're already training for that.

Take a look at Parliament Hill.  Is it a coincidence that it's been heavily walled off just in time for any seriously angry revolt that might occur as a result of the lock-down?

Come on, now's the time to do it -- when there's permission, indeed a somewhat vague encouragement, to wear masks -- because, when the cops photograph you (as they always did back when I was out on the protest beat) you won't be readily recognizable.

And that's about all the good that masks can do for anyone. In fact, if you're not very careful, apparently, they can induce in you a serious bacterial lung infection:

CBC: Masks: Everything you need to know but might be too afraid to ask
  • If people are wearing masks for extended periods of time without properly cleaning them ... a bacterial biofilm can build up on the outside layer of your mask.
  • "If 30 million Canadians are wearing a cloth mask all day long, you'll see a noticeable spike in bacterial lung infections in a month or so," he said. "Especially because many people wearing them are often immunocompromised.
  • "Think about it: our bodies are not designed to have a dirty cloth in front of our mouth all day."

Of course not. They're designed for revolution: such as stretching out en masse on a beach blanket in the sun like normal, sane human beings:

CBC: Thousands packed into Trinity Bellwoods on Saturday as temperatures increased.

(Accompanying photos reproduced here below)

What a relief: it seems there are plenty of millennials who aren't afraid of death -- probably because they know it's mostly only happening to "boomers" (Like, like, worst generation ever, like: YYC), and that's as it should be.

I can see their point. I'd rather die, myself, than see it happen to somebody just getting started in life.  Can't help wondering, though, what they would have done had the cops waded in. Surely they had considered that might happen.

It appears they were not the least bit concerned about the possibility of being collared and/or fined.  So good on them for that!  They should beware, however, that this is the very kind of thing that the military might eventually be called in to help out with -- and they carry bigger guns than the police.

Still, and despite them not giving a fig about what I think, I say more power to them; they might end up testing positive and develop antibodies and therefore not require the much anticipated vaccine, and they almost certainly will not die. If they include Bill Gates in their anti-boomer hate-on, and are smart enough to approve of the benefits of natural "herd" immunity, then this would turn out to be one of the finest rebellions ever.

It's cute how vague the experts-in-charge are capable of being. Toronto's chief medical officer says their behaviour is selfish and she reminds them that the "cases of COVID-19 in Toronto are still on the rise" without bothering to say whether any of those "cases" were actually ill or merely tested positive.

"Images today of thousands of people gathered in Trinity Bellwoods Park were unacceptable," the city said in a statement issued late Saturday evening.

#2:
City to deploy more bylaw officers to Trinity Bellwoods Park following 'dangerous' behaviour ...
Dr. Eileen de Villa, the city's chief medical officer of health, condemned crowding in a popular downtown park on Saturday, calling the behaviour 'selfish' and noting that cases of COVID-19 in Toronto are still on the rise. (Dr. Eileen de Villa/Twitter )

Yup, normal sane human beings. Doing what normal sane humans do. Socializing.

Love the mask quotes

"If cloth masks can stop stuff from getting out, can they stop stuff from getting in?

"Maybe a little bit. Maybe not," said Dr. Isaac Bogoch, an infectious disease specialist and researcher based at the Toronto General Hospital.

"We don't really know," he said. "It might slightly reduce one's risk [of exposure], but I can't look you in the eye and tell you if it does and by how much."

"It is "hard to comment on the ability of [cloth] masks to filter," because unlike medical masks, homemade masks don't require any standards approval,"

The good Doctor can't look you in the eye and tell you if or how much it reduces your risk. And for that matter nor did Ms Tam.

All this false security..

I don't know how much you've been out lately, but, it's more insane then ever. Tam did a great disservice to us all... And the lynch mobs are gathering thanks to the mass insanity.

I'm working on things to say..... should I be confronted.
I've got the strength.

Was thinking today about the heat and how TO used to have cooling centres for those that couldn't stay cool.
What are they doing now?
Leaving them to die on the streets so they can call them Covid casualties?
Wouldn't doubt it.

Hi Penny: Before I forget, Roger Higgs has uploaded a new paper on "global warming" (in case you're interested):
He says: "Here's Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) destroyed in 500 words …"
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/341622566_IPCC_three_pillars_of_man-made_global_warming_collapsed

Things have been so weird that I can't even talk about it properly. But I will say this:

As I read about the deep lung infections caused by wearing masks all day I thought about my pharmacist, who has to do that every day, all day (and hates it) in order to meet the requirements to keep the business open.

I placed an order for supplements by email, but she hasn't replied. She's probably just busy, and plans to email once the order arrives, but I worry that she might not be well.

There's other stuff, but my brain feels tired just trying to organize it all. I feel like I'm living in a giant looney bin. I make a point of walking out at least every other day, but I wish I could unsee some of the things my grey matter has indelibly recorded against my will.

Maybe Toronto is trying to help with keeping people cool, but Ford sure wouldn't mind being able to chalk up more Covid if they died of heat stroke, but tested positive for Covert19.

Sorry to veer off topic but how are your eastern skies lately? Out here in the west we have been enjoying several days of glorious "Alberta Blue" after a stretch of overcast and rain but then came the chemtrail planes this morning and now our skies are that tell-tale sickly blue. Is there any pleasure they don't want to try to take away from us?

Anyway, here's something that also brought me some pleasure recently. "Alberta Blue" is a sweet tune I can't recall having heard before. The Travelling Mabels were featured on one of Don Jackson's fund raisers for musicians (Almighty Voices). I love their harmony and their natural musicality (no auto-tuning needed for these talented ladies). Their segment starts at about the 6 minute mark. (I liked their second song too.)

Hi MR: Yesterday was extremely hot, but turned cloudy around noon so I was able to get outside for a while without getting burned.

Today's been funny. Low clouds, sky is very pale blue where it can be seen, with white streaks through it. It's only 20 right now and going down to 15 overnight with "periods of rain".

"The Two Mabels" - that's cute.

I'm listening now. They say I haven't lost my groove. Haha. I needed to hear that. Thanks, M.R.

NIce Yamaha piano keyboard too. I like mine, but it's probably not as fine.

Don't know where my mind was -- anxious to get out the door for a bike ride I guess -- should have typed Tom (Jackson) not Don. I always thought he'd make a good Governor General -- talented, a good speaker and a very generous heart. Wonder where they got "Mabels" from -- their bio doesn't say. Today we got into the twenties (barely) for the first time this year and it's not too often we get an overnight low above 10, even in the peak of summer (7 days in 2019, 4 days in 2018, 4 days in 2017 …). I'm a weather weirdo. Been keeping daily HI/LO data and charting it for years and I still haven't found little Greta's warming trend here.

I had a lovely bike ride and found exactly what I was seeking -- first bumblebee this year.

Could it be from that episode from "Mad About You" when Carol Burnett (playing Jamie's mother) suggested Mabel for the baby's name -- Mothers Always Bring Extra Love?

I'm impressed that you're bike riding, M.R. and taking long walks as well. I can walk okay to get where I have to go, but my biking days are long over. And I haven't seen a bumble bee in years. Saw a turtle last year down at the river, though.. I wonder if Greta goes nature walking.

Stupid me; I saw there were two female singers and thought they were both named Mabel.
