Maurice Strong - Father of "Climate Change"?

or ...

"...the man who did very nicely by costing everyone else dearly."

Quadrant.org: Maurice Strong, Climate Crook (12/15)
  • Like Dorothy, Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz, we’ve all been dancing down the Yellow Brick Road of “settled science” in search of answers from the Emerald City, only to find that what we suspected all along — the Wizard has been telling us fibs.
  • But who exactly is the Wizard? And where did this seeming-madness all begin?
  • The whole climate change business, and it is a business, started with Mr Strong.

Read the rest and note the part where Strong came right out and bragged that he was “a socialist in ideology, a capitalist in methodology”.

As cock of the walk, he couldn't resist crowing about his prowess in the manipulation department.  Everything he said publicly, he capitalized on privately. For instance, he said people ate too much meat (cattle produce methane, reportedly bad for the environment), so he bought a cattle company to reap the profits of that particular sin -- and get this -- from a Khashoggi no less, a Saudi arms dealer and dear uncle of Jamal Khashoggi whose allegedly dead body is supposedly unfindable, although Turkish police have posited a location).

There are a number of theories about the deeper meaning of The Wizard of Oz, and Wikipedia does a decent job of presenting them.

Under "Social Groups", from Historian Quentin Taylor:
  • The Scarecrow as a representation of American farmers and their troubles in the late 19th century
  • The Tin Man representing the industrial workers, especially those of American steel industries
  • The Cowardly Lion as a metaphor for William Jennings Bryan

As suggested in the scene where Dorothy endows Scarecrow with a diploma, it wasn't lack of intelligence on the part of the farmers, but of artifice, the main ingredient in manipulation of the public by people endowed with credentials.

William Jennings Bryan was a sort of everyman, it seems. One example might be this:
  • An avowed pacifist, Bryan finally resigned over Wilson’s second note to Germany (June 8, 1915) protesting the sinking of the Lusitania. Nonetheless, he urged loyal support of the war when it was finally declared.

An additional allegory, and most poignant, to me at least, is contained in a direct quote from the King of the Flying Monkeys, thought to represent the indigenous peoples of the Americas:
  • "Once we were a free people, living happily in the great forest, flying from tree to tree, eating nuts and fruit and doing just as we pleased without calling anybody master. ... This was many years ago, long before Oz came out of the clouds to rule over this land."

In the movie, those flying monkeys were forced to do the bidding of the Wicked Witch of the West, and some watchers found that a very scary part of the film. But it seems that our real aboriginal peoples are paying the price of trying not to rock the boat too much; internalizing their anger to the point that they sometimes do damage to themselves. Not everyone, native or otherwise, is as strong, self-disciplined and courageous as the Honourable Jody Wilson-Raybould, who plans to run again in the upcoming election.

For myself, however, it will be important to learn where she stands on "climate change".  The Liberals are already playing up that issue as a distraction from the SNC-Lavalin controversy.

Which brings us to Mr. Oz himself, who was the worst kind of fraud.

Is it gullibility or opportunism that motivates Canada's PM to subscribe to the carbon theory of "climate change"?  Is it a tactic passed down through the Liberal Party to ingratiate itself with the goals of big business? Silly question?

After all, who stands to gain if the whole theory is a cynical ploy, a fraud perpetrated on the very middle class the PM keeps insisting he strongly supports, though some may not exactly feel the love?  Does he imagine that the move toward enforced electric vehicles is brilliant on all counts: creating jobs, enriching his already rich friends and ... da-da, da-da ... addressing "climate change"?  You bet he does. And he owes it all to Maurice Strong, whom he publicly described as that "pioneer of sustainable development who left our country and our world a better place".

"ZEV", a whole new acronym for us to cram into a brainload of them: Zero Emission Vehicles.

Misleading, of course, because emitting will happen each and every time one of them is plugged in for charging -- though reportedly about half as much as gasoline-powered vehicles. So, I guess that means the climate will be half-changed. (Short-changed?)

All that's needed is to turn electric vehicles into a status symbol, while praising buyers for saving the environment, and you've got them by the unowhuts.

Maurice Strong will be salivating in his grave.

But ... and there's always a but ... wouldn't it be better to up-sell the public on electric trains and local and long-distance electric buses?  (Those babies have the potential to make a few moguls very rich.) And encourage people to walk, ride bikes, or at least go back to car pooling?

Whatever happened to car pooling?  I was on a bus not long ago that arrived on the outskirts of Toronto around lunch time, and we were close to an hour late reaching the bus terminal due to a stand-still traffic jam of vehicles, as far as the eye could see, containing only one person each!

About those indigenous peoples (possibly) portrayed in The Wizard of Oz; Trudeau says he cares deeply about them as well. In fact, he has promised that if he is re-elected he just might finally get them some clean drinking water.

YYC: Stuff I Find Hard to Fathom
The Liberal government says it's aiming to have finally lifted all long-term water advisories by March 2021 -- and it will have taken them only 154 years!

"climate change" is on my mind as well- so it's good to stop over and read about Maurice Strong...
The oilman.
I see that's mentioned in the article- good
Big oil has been all over this movement from the get go- They are all for it.
Despite the spin.

The other day there was an article about that fraud WWF.
I've written about them previously..

Here's the latest:

http://www.netnewsledger.com/2019/03/06/buzzfeed-report-exposes-abuses-on-global-scale-by-wwf-funded-guards/

"A major investigation by news site Buzzfeed has today exposed a shocking level of violent abuse by eco-guards and rangers funded by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

The report “WWF’s Secret War” reveals that “the beloved nonprofit with the cuddly panda logo funds, equips, and works directly with paramilitary forces that have been accused of beating, torturing, sexually assaulting, and murdering scores of people.”

Of course "climate change" aka human caused global warming is no where to be seen in my neck of the woods
days are cold, cold cold
nights are colder
way below the normal average

The place I always go to get maple syrup can't produce any this year so far-- behind the times
no saps running cause it's too cold through the day

they have 2 percent of their harvest
by now they'd usually have 50 percent in

Penny, thanks for those links. I will be looking more closely into those allegations regarding the WWF.

It's cold here too, but it's supposed to warm up and be sunny by Friday. (-1 predicted, -10 at night).

Thanks also for reminding me of a lovely time in my youth - over 60 years ago. I was lucky to have friends who lived on a farm, and I was there for the sap collection and the boiling. I'll never forget the "sugar house" where the sap was boiled, or the fragrance, and the taste of maple taffy made by pouring the thickened syrup onto snow. A beautiful memory! Yes, there was snow in those woods, and we had to collect the sap via a horse-drawn sleigh, but I don't remember feeling cold at all.

I've seen pretty much every kind of weather over the years, and whenever it happens, I can recall it happening before.

I hope you have fully recovered from the 'flu!

I cannot believe I'm still congested, but, I am!
And hoarse from coughing so much
but definitely better (worse flu bug ever)
but what doesn't kill ya, makes ya stronger!!!

re: WWF
I saw the story a couple of days ago-
but what was interesting to me was all the so called 'environmental' news blogs/sites hadn't really picked up on it..
Not surprising, but, just shows how phony much of the 'environmental' movement is
The green they care about is their cash
and not much else- that included WWF, Greenpeace etc.
It was WWF that started that absurd- shut off your lights for 'earth hour'.. which the media promotes endlessly- it's a weird ritual I won't participate in

Good one: "The green they care about is their cash". That's a keeper.

I don't observe "earth hour" either, in fact I hardly ever know when it's going to be. I'm a natural light-turner-offer. If it's not needed, it goes off. Same with other kinds of conservation. One measly hour or symbolic day just doesn't cut it. And it has nothing to do with "climate" but everything to do with respect for Mother Earth.

Besides, we all have to make up for Al Gore's well-known lavish consumption of energy!
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4758152/Al-Gore-s-mansion-uses-21-times-energy-average.html

Yeah, sounds like you got a real dose of the flu, alright. And yes it will make you stronger. Have you tried apple cider vinegar? Not advising; just wondering.

Yes, I shut off the lights when I'm not using them as well.

Don't run the water endlessly either
But them I'm 'frugal'
Not cheap, just frugal ;)

Haven't tried the apple cider vinegar wrt flu?
Didn't know of or hadn't heard of a use in line with flu!
Any info you want to share?

Dosed up on Vitamin C and D.
Drink lots of tea (mullein for congestion-expectorant)
And other tea- plus water.
But at night I'm resorting to the generic Nyquil stuff
tried to get away from it- but still too much nose blowing and coughing to get a good night sleep.

All my life I've taken A+D (halibut liver oil capsules when I can get them, or cod liver oil FOOTBALLS when I can't). When I was 6, the government introduced cod liver to the public through the school system. In grade one we had to line up with a tablespoon brought from home, and teacher would pour the liquid into our spoons and we had to swallow it. We hated it, but loved our teacher, so it became a habit I've never stopped. And I attribute my high immunity and very strong bones to it.

WRT AC vinegar: you could try one or two tablespoonsful in a glass of warm water (add some honey if you like). It's supposed to help with the throat symptoms and it's also a germ fighter.

You're supposed to get the health store variety - the one that contains the "mother" goop, but I suspect the grocery store variety is just as anti-germ.

Worth a try?

Hey Yaya
yes, worth a try! (vinegar)

I recall cod liver oil being spooned out when I was in maybe Kindergarten? With our own spoon.

But not much beyond that.
Also my mom and dad had us take it in the winter as well.
For quite a few years. Gel pill.
I guess they'd thought it would keep us healthy and there is good reason to think that was the case.

I take the halibut liver oil capsules all year long because my skin won't allow me much time in the sun. I don't like to advertise on my site, but in this case ... Webber Naturals is the only kind I've been able to find locally, and hard to find at that. A downtown IDA druggist had gotten some in specially because they're tiny and potent, and people don't like the big cod liver oil chokers, or having to take it by spoon. (Old times are gone in more ways than one.)

Hope the vinegar suggestion is useful. I know a few singers who swear by it for clearing the throat, but it's also quite antiseptic, and makes a nice, warm drink.

Over and out.
