Life is a Time Machine

Where we are in time determines where we're going.

H.G. Wells wrote a book which pretty much screams: leave well enough alone. A guy builds a time machine in the hope of seeing how humankind has progressed and finds himself a missionary to a group of innocents (Eloi) whose only purpose in life was to eventually be eaten by an underground colony of cannibals (Morlocks). Why don't they run away or fight back? Because the cannibals feed them, so they never learn to grow their own food, and when their time comes they know it's useless to resist. Farm animals would tell you the same if they could speak in words. As it is, they scream in surprise only at the moment of their death.

How is that different from now?  Well, it isn't.

The hero of Wells' book dived headlong into the future and learned that it was actually a horrid regression.  I'm not overly sentimental about Canada's past, nor did I ever waste energy wishing for a different world future -- except for wanting wars to end. But, the way things are at this moment, no one is living in the present; everyone is looking ahead to a time when this period will end -- without considering how that end may actually transpire.

Personally, I wouldn't mind going back a couple of years to when the flu was the flu and nobody got all worked up about it -- or even bothered to look up the stats on incidences and deaths. We were all "Eloi", just living out our good citizen days.

But I guess I don't have to tell you who are considered to be the ugly Morlocks these days -- "something inhuman and malign". They are ones who won't wear masks, won't take an experimental vaccine, and stubbornly deny that humans are causing "climate change". They also know that the word "cases" does not refer to sick people, and that last year's numbers are added onto this year's to make things look worse than they really are.

The dutiful "Eloi" allow themselves to be fattened up for the kill because they don't know what else to do and they want to be seen as good members of the flock -- until they see the axe about to fall, and of course then it's too late to take a different tack.

The BC Wildfires

The Eloi would also accept without question that the BC Wildfires are the result of human-caused "climate change" -- the next big panic scenario.  Those wildfires are really scary and cause a lot of damage and human suffering, but not even the BC government website blames them on "climate change".

The BC fires go back to long before automobiles, plane travel, oil furnaces, and the rising spectre of CO2. Here's the official Wildfire History. Keep in mind it's not a complete list of incidents; only the "major" ones.

The official report of investigations of possible causes does not mention CO2, though it does examine possible human causes -- such as arson, or camp fires.

There is nothing in any of the official government reports to suggest anything other than natural causes -- such as hot summer weather, dry deadwood, lightning, possible campfires, cigarettes, and certain other human activities -- going back a long, long way:

• On June 13, 1886, fire destroyed most of Vancouver, which had only been incorporated three months earlier. A clearing fire blazed out of control and in one hour only two of the 400 original buildings were left standing. Due to the fire it was decided that replacement construction should be of brick, stone or cast iron.
• On September 17, 1868, Barkerville was destroyed by fire and 116 homes were destroyed. The fire was caused by a miner trying to kiss one of the girls in a saloon. The ensuing struggle dislodged a stove pipe, setting the canvas ceiling on fire.

The Eloi boys don't bother to try kissing the girls. There's no future in it. There's no future at all, except for their next meal. They just sit quietly close to the food hall, waiting for dinner.

If there were vaccines on the menu, they'd have taken those too.

Forever Chemicals

Have you noticed the talk about "Forever Chemicals" (i.e. PFAS - (short for "per-and poly-fluoroalkyl substances") on the 'net?  They're saying it as if it's a new discovery but, of course, it's been quietly discussed since "science" began; well, since at least the 40's World War.

Actually, it's been since wars going back 2000 years!  No! since 4000 BC!

On top of all of this:

For more than 2,000 years human ingenuity has turned natural and synthetic poisons into weapons of war.

"Wars and rumours of wars" are apparently a great inspiration in that regard. The Bible says they're a harbinger of "the last days", but right now, in "peacetime" (if there really is such a thing), even the smallest among us receives the benefits of the very latest in new-and-improved killing agents:

• ACSPub:Analysis of the available breast milk PFAS data from around the world over the period of 1996–2019 showed that while the levels of the phased-out PFOS and PFOA have been declining with halving times of 8.1 and 17 years, respectively, the detection frequencies of current-use short-chain PFAS have been increasing with a doubling time of 4.1 years.

Yet we're conditioned to worry more about a particular flu virus that actually, in the end, kills no more people than the regular flu, which we hardly thought about at all.
