Canada's Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland says for Russia to be allowed in G8 Putin would have to "behave" [YouTube] himself. We never left, says Putin.
Sergey Lavrov's brilliant answer to a silly, high-school question: It's not about "liking" certain country leaders; it's about being able to work intelligently with them.
In other, less gentlemanly words: grow up, people!
This is Canada Day. I think we're supposed to be celebrating, but I'm hard-pressed to know about what exactly. That we're more and more American every day? That both my provincial and my federal governments are run by childish mannikins having sparse natural couth, little objectivity, next to no credibility, no innate dignity whatsoever - just a calculated need to please.
The Liberals -- except for one or two things they like to think of as demonstrating their trade-mark love of freedom and humanity -- could just as easily be Conservatives. When they speak they show hesitation and signs of having rehearsed (scroll to Harjit Sajjan video) someone else's words designed to feed the plebes what it's thought they need to hear.
Under the professional makeup, the long, straight hair that has to be constantly shoved behind the ear, the ubiquitous beads strung about the neck, the short skirts that reveal thighs in group photos (newly elected Ontario provincial government), and the look-alike, fresh-faced, often overweight mama's boys in their expensive suits and shiny shoes, acting so very grown-up -- not to mention the teeth, my gawd the teeth (members of Federal Gov't)!
In the animal kingdom, of which we are a part, like it or not, baring the teeth is a sign of intimidation. So why has it become such a fad in official photos? Ambitious people spend all kinds of money on cosmetic dentistry just so they can flash their teeth in photos as they pretend to smile. Maybe Jordan Peterson knows why? He never does it himself -- but then he isn't trying to disguise his self-serving aim for the jugular.
Today I watched the latest interview of Russia's Sergey Lavrov just to experience vicariously what it is that's missing in Western political officialdom. In a word - CREDIBILITY. Some other words: manners, dignity, intelligence, logic, couth, practicality, SUBSTANCE.
I encourage you to listen to the man and suspend just for a few minutes the impressions you've absorbed from the crass, hyped-up, under-educated, conscienceless, money-motivated media mouthpieces and ghost-written political hacks.
