How are you enjoying house arrest?

If you ever go to Houston,
Yeah, you better walk right,
You'd better not gamble
And sure thing better not fight.
The next thing you know
The sheriff gonna arrest you
And some judge send you down
And you can bet your bottom dollar
Lord, you'll be chaingang bound,
Chaingang bound.

Creedence Clearwater (YouTube)

How are you enjoying house arrest?

Miami woman goes to Italy and comes home with a sore throat. She shoulda stayed in Italy, eh?

Coronavirus Confusion: Miami Woman Allegedly Denied Proper Testing
  • “My preliminary tests came back rather alarming,” she said, “because I tested positively for two strains of the previous coronavirus.”
  • Instead, of leaving with answers she was sent home and told to stay in her house for 14 days.

Some have suggested that three weeks of school closure provides time for 5G installation without parental input, despite this:

Scientists and Doctors Demand Moratorium of 5G Warning of Health Effects

Funny how documents signed by a zillion scientists verify that Global Warming exists, yet anti-5G documents signed by Docs get ignored.

Most of the population is now under virtual house arrest: at 9:15 am I'm looking out my window and there's nobody on the street, nobody walking in the park by the river, only two cars in the parking area which visitors to the Old Age Home next door usually fill.  Almost no traffic on the road.

I have to get out.  I'll go to the supermarket for rice milk and yogurt. There'll likely be plenty of that, since it's health food, eh?

The shelves have been restocked, or in the process of being so.  The clerk who took my cash was not wearing gloves (as I've seen some cashiers do). She took my filthy lucre, and gave me change, and, of course, she touched everything I bought. I washed my hands and the kitchen counter after putting things away, but that's all I'm prepared to do.  I would feel really silly washing everything I bought, and my house keys, and my wallet ...

A sign in my apt lobby says residents should avoid the common rooms. That's enough to make them sick! Not good for those who need the benefits of playing darts, etc.  Fortunately for me, I'm a natural home body anyway.

Checked my mailbox and hallelujah!  The ads are still arriving. Is that a good sign, or what!

The Millennial Report, in February, gave "Practical Advice for Coronavirus Prevention and Holistic Remediation".

It's way too long and involved for me. I'm just a simple gal. Besides, everybody knows that T-Paper and pasta are the real panaceas.

I can make one recommendation, though: Halibut Liver Oil Capsules.  I credit them with the reason I've not had a cold or flu in a couple of decades, and don't anticipate succumbing now.

State of the Nation says it's China's 9/11

It also posits that there is a connection with the introduction of 5G, and that this is why people on cruise ships got sick:
  • Not only was 5G fully operational on those quarantined ships, the cruise lines promote their seaborne IoTs [Internet of Things] for all the old folks whose health is highly compromised or suffer from immunosuppression.  Then the protracted period of quarantine served to spread the COVID-19 even more in the close quarters.

Are the powers-that-be out to get rid of the surplus of raisins by crowding them together while testing 5G?  Face it, it's generally retired folk who go on cruises.

The Independent is screaming that the global death toll has reached 9,000 (since corrected to 8,700) - although Johns Hopkins is now saying: 9785.

Out of billions.  Here's the latest reported by Canada.  Compare it with the regular flu which also tends to kill only the old or otherwise compromised: 32801 cases between Aug and Feb. 2020. (Scroll down this page to see the table)  And they don't say how many died of it, maybe because it would make the vaccine campaign look even less effective?

The Guardian Inequalities of US health system put coronavirus fight at risk, experts say

They had a photo of sex workers out of work, forced to play pool in scanty attire, demanding a monthly stipend the same as the Uber drivers and street vendors receive for being laid off, but I can't find it now.  Did somebody complain?

Maybe it got old gaffers' blood boiling, and that might help them stay alive. Am I cynical, or what?

Former Ottawa U. Prof. Michel Chussodovsky, who, I discovered when I attended his Ottawa talks, is not the world's best speaker, is nevertheless a darn good writer and thinker (he's also the originator of "Global Research") and he was in agreement back in February that the big C may have come out of America:
  • Scientific analysis revealed by Larry Romanoff  suggests that the virus was “Made in America”: “it appears that the virus did not originate in China and, according to reports in Japanese and other media, may have originated in the US.  …

It's well worth a read because some very serious questions are being asked since apparently the reports out of the US about its infections are not very specific.  This is not a medical crisis as much as it is a "serious social and economic crisis".

DemocracyNow: Trump Continues Calling the Coronavirus “Chinese” Despite Reports of Anti-Asian Hate Crimes
  • “I would like to begin by announcing some important developments in our war against the Chinese virus. I will be invoking the Defense Production Act just in case we need it.”
  • A member of the administration also reportedly referred to the coronavirus as the “kung-flu.”

Gee, I feel a bit sick, don't you? Why would he stir up his far right fans that way? Stupid question, with an election in the offing.

ConsortiumNews: On the Front Lines of Coronavirus: A Doctor’s View
  • The strain the coronavirus causes on health systems also leads to increased deaths from other illnesses not related to coronavirus. There are stories around the world of patients with various illnesses such as cancer that are turned away from care.
  • Other acute and chronic illnesses do not take a break during viral pandemics such as this. In other parts of the world such as China, the strain is not just leading to deaths of patients, but also medical workers dying from a combination of infection and fatigue.
  • There is potential for this same tragic dynamic to play out in the U.S., but in an even worse fashion given our disjointed profit-centered model of care.

If the US infected China (and don't forget that there are military labs in the US that specialize in disease-causing agents - remember the anthrax scare* after 9/11?) then clearly it's being used as a kind of warfare. *Fort Detrick, Md. Scientist’s Suicide Linked to Anthrax Inquiry

I've  just thought of something: an idea has spread that pasta (next to toilet paper of course) is a good hedge against the C virus. If that's true, then why are so many Italians, reportedly, dying?

TheSun: MAMA MIA Coronavirus panic grips Italy as shoppers fight over packets of pasta as deadly bug spreads to the south

John Rappoport doesn't believe that many Italians are dying:

Corona Bologna Italy: The Truth begins to leak out

Try not to get any on you, ok?

Don't know if you've been out and about at all yaya, but, it's stranger then strange.

Empty shelves in the grocery store and pharmacy

Oh and a funny- clerk at the local Rexall chatting with an elderly customer about the toilet paper shortage.
Clerk say's - Kleenex should be sold out, not TP, because this is a respiratory ailment. So clerk's not getting the run on toilet paper.
Old gal replies: Well ya know, 1 person sneezes and 100 people shit themselves!

I laughed and laughed. We told everybody and they all laughed.
It is funny, and it's like laughing at the insanity of it all.

People are filled with fear.
People won't even make eye contact with you.
I've been doing my usual saying hello to everyone.
And the recoil response is obvious.
This doesn't bode well for down the road and human society

I just now finished writing an email to my City Councillor because there's another move on to fluoridate our water, and as I sent it, in came the notice that you had commented. I laughed out loud at the joke! Good comic relief, for sure.

Yeah, I walk out every couple of days, but I don't see anyone in the halls of my building or in the lobby. They must be hiding in their units or gone to their relatives for the time being.

Food Basics, at least, is restocking its shelves all the time, and the clerks don't seem anxious at all, but people do seem to go out of their way to avoid coming too close.

It's a crock that only the most necessary stores are open. The liquor and beer stores are necessary? I don't think so.

This too shall pass, eh? Then there'll only be the economic fallout to consider.

I can't believe how fast they are pulling off this New World of Orwell on us but if there are any vestiges of logic, morality and empathy in We The People then now's the time to bring forth our best qualities and push back in whatever way we can, even if it's simply retaining as much of our pre-COVID normal life as possible. We need to keep our minds open and our hearts compassionate.

Tomorrow I have to dash off to our bank to top up our chequing account to cover the cheques we will write for the next six months (utilities, insurance, etc.). So far it isn't on their list of closures but things change hour to hour it seems. We continue to take walks along main street in our small town, smiling at those we don't know and chatting with those we do but sadly everyday there are fewer and fewer people out and about. That's because there's not many businesses open on main street. For now at least the post office is open and people still hold the door open for each other.

I hope you, Yaya, and all my go-to bloggers will keep on keeping on because now, as never before, we need your wisdom and I, for one, welcome touches of COVID humour which many places in the ethernet are forbidding.

Ah, you sent me on a search, M.R. Don't know if this will help but here goes:
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=covid+humour&atb=v165-1&ia=web

Haven't read 'em all yet, but so far the one Penny told is the funniest.

Take good care. Glad you're still going out walking. I'm going to go out today as well.

Thanks, Yaya. I'm just into them and already smiling. My cousin sent me one recently ... 9 months from now the most popular baby names will be Charmin and Scott.

Maybe we shouldn't laugh just yet. That prediction might come true. Okay, I'm laughing.

I did a double take on this as I wasn't sure what you were talking about:

Are the powers-that-be out to get rid of the surplus of raisins...

LOL!!

We take cod liver oil here plus D3.

Take care of yourself! :)

Gwen: Good to hear from you! And to know you're doing okay. Cod liver oil is good too. I just can't swallow the stuff, especially when it's in the shape of a football. The Halibut capsules are tiny.

Yeah, sometimes I think they enjoy saying that it affects oldies (raisins). Some people noticeably avoid you when they see the white hair. But I plan to foil their plan.

Was in Staples today and was told to keep outside of the red line. I pretended I didn't understand what they were talking about. LOL

The cashier, a young guy, told me he thought the whole thing was a crock. Smart cookie.

A very pretty young girl in the Dollarama was busy wiping down the handles of the carts. But she took my filthy lucre without batting an eyelash.

This whole thing is the purest form of insanity I've come across in my whole life.

You're cracking me up, YYC!

A woman in another blog's comment site said that her son went into a Best Buy (I think it's in Michigan) to buy a game. She said a burly looking bouncer type was at the door and asked him what he was there for. He told him and the bouncer pointed him to where he should go. At the checkout, the cashier told him he had to step back to the line drawn on the floor. Her son, fuming, complied. She rang up his purchase and waited for him to insert his card into the POS machine. He told her she would have to step back otherwise he would be too close to her when he was at the POS machine (LOL!). Then he told them he could not use the machine as it had had many other people using it. So he waited for them to get a sanitizer and wipe down the POS machine.

I thought that was genius and should I encounter the same situation, I intend to do the same. :)

Oh, this so heartening. If he didn't know what he was looking for, in other words, he was just looking, would he have gotten bounced?

I can see it now: So, what do you do? Oh, I'm a Best Buy Bouncer. That woman's son was pretty cool under the circumstances.

I gotta remember that. I suppose it would be cruel to ask the cashier to wipe down every article I buy before she places it in my bag?

Wow, thanks Chycho. Love your chats when they're not about Maths. Lazy-minded, I guess.

I'm reading "Dune" now, when I get a chance. The library's closed to ward off C19, so I don't have to return it, maybe, EVER!
