Has 5G Come to Town
... just in time for the holidays?
City of Kingston says it has no contracts to develop 5G
Not exactly definitive, is it? They might as well come right out and say they don't know, period.
ITWorldCanada: 2018 - Bell Teams up with Huawei to Successfully Test 5G in Ontario
Okay, that was 2018 and it wasn't carried out in Kingston proper. But here's what I'm seeing now:
See photo at top of page. One section of the street I live on (yes, I'm outing myself; I'm no longer in Ottawa but have returned to my home town) has suddenly sprouted both buried and overt cables and boxes the likes of which I've not seen before.
The cable between the poles in the photo has also become considerably thickened and heavy compared to other sections of the street.
The City, of course, has always given Bell carte blanche to decorate its "telephone" poles any way they see fit.
On the opposite side of the street, Bell has embedded little orange flags showing where it recently buried some cable. See photo at bottom of page.
In a CBS video about 5G you can see poles that are similarly decorated.
So it seems that, regardless of how much people protest, and Kingston appears to have a very credible protest group ( Kingstonians for Safe Technology - K4st), 5G may well already be a reality, like it or not. Bell does not intend to be stopped.
K4st provides an excellent information page, however, which should be of interest to anyone no matter where you live.
Here's an upbeat article suggesting that 5G protesters do have a hope in hell, but it's a bit difficult, for me at least, not to remain skeptical:
GlobalResearch: 5G Cell Phone Radiation: How the Telecom Companies Are Losing the Battle to Impose 5G Against the Will of the People
We're certainly not hearing anything encouraging in the mainstream media. I find it laughable that the Toronto Star, for example, worries only about Huawei's potential to spy on us if it is included in 5G development and not how the umpteen "eyes" have always and will always take advantage of each and every surveillance opportunity.
If the West excludes Huawei it has nothing to do with our privacy and everything to do with corporate competition.
I'm a tecky type of person, but I find I can get just as much done with 40 down-10 up wired cable, and all of my computer accessories are wired, except for the tiny ("candy board") non-bluetooth, remote keyboard I use to watch movies on my large computer monitor (haven't had a TV for years), so it's beyond me why anyone would feel the need to have anything more exotic.
Especially when 5G has not been tested for safety!
PS: I also have a land-line phone, which I rarely answer due to so many scam calls, and let my answer machine do the screening.
But hey, I'm old, and even Bill Nye wishes I would hurry up and die.
See numerous other articles I've written on the subject of 5G including a post in Sept regarding the Kingston protest.
