Brightening clouds eyed as quick fix for global warming
One idea gaining traction is to seed marine clouds with saltwater or other particles, increasing their potential to reflect solar rays, cooling the earth. It’s part of a nascent and controversial branch of science known as “sunlight reflection methods,” or SRM.
"Nascent" my foot. You do a search for "chemtrails" and Google's going to show you "conspiracy theory" articles going back a decade. But the truth is that private corporations have been profiting from messing with the weather long before now. In July 2010, for instance, Canadian insurance companies were hiring weather modification companies to minimize damage from predicted hail storms!
Our own Canadian government's response, when questions about spraying arose in the House a few years ago, was that it's only contrails that sometimes get mixed up with ice crystals and spread out. Now suddenly they're acknowledging that spraying is indeed going on. But they've got their eye on it, so no need to be concerned, eh?
Here's a video that was posted online in 2012, and has been viewed well over a million times on YouTube alone. If you haven't seen it, now's the time to at least consider that you may have been had by reports of "new" talk about a "fix for global warming".
And keep in mind that geo-engineering can warm our environment unnaturally, just as it has the potential to cool it.
The corporate media have done a good job of trashing "believers in chemtrails", but the truth is that the touted so-called "scientific" study done on this phenomenon was basically just a survey to find out who believed and who did not - and was only carried out last August 2016, just as geo-engineering started to come out of the closet.
Again, as in Climate Change, (See YYC's "Climate Change - Both Sides Now") we're encouraged to think of it as a matter of "belief", so it's really just about how religious one is, pro or con.
Or possibly about who paid for the survey - the outcome of which was that, first and foremost, the majority of the strange cloud formations are a result of increased air traffic.
Forget what people see regularly with their own eyes, myself included: one smallish plane flying low, back and forth on a grid pattern, and sometimes making x's in the sky. I've seen this many, many times in downtown Ottawa (but never over the Parliament Buildings for some strange reason) and on the road to Perth, ON where some kind of rainbow-coloured clouds developed, and I'm seeing it in the relatively small town I live in now, where our airport only recently upgraded to 37-passenger planes, from 15-passenger ones, that commute to Toronto.
The airport is in the West end of town and the planes fly West, while I see planes in the North-East and sometimes South, creating low streaks that fan out in the sky.
The "scientific" consensus is only that the activity is not a "secret, large-scale atmospheric spraying program (SLAP)", though, seemingly as an afterthought, they do acknowledge that some spraying of chemicals is going on, but it's only, you know, "research".
So really, what they're doing is acknowledging that there's spraying going on, but it's harmless and it's not a secret program. Except that it obviously was a secret program for years - until just now!
You've got to wonder how many of the "scientists" who took part in the survey are in the business of formulating "geo-engineering" chemicals themselves, and their contract with their corporate funders includes a secrecy clause.
It does seem, however, that there's an effort now to bring it out into the open, while still being evasive. They keep saying "or other particles" but they don't say what those particles are. I didn't know scientific studies were allowed to be so vague!
The University of Oxford has this to say: "Geoengineering is the deliberate large-scale intervention in the Earth’s natural systems to counteract climate change." They want to do this (or have been doing this?) by "Introducing small, reflective particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect some sunlight before it reaches the surface of the Earth."
Particles of what?
Well, we're not going to get an immediate answer on that one, and I think it should at least be considered that geo-engineering may be more about warfare than about the mysterious bogeyman "Climate Change".
The movie "Rosemary's Baby" has a line that has stuck in my mind for years. Rosemary says to the doctor she has fled to for safety, "There are conspiracies, aren't there?" And he agrees there are, but turns her over to her enemies anyway.
