Almost everyone who has read history in a more than casual manner knows that when the great figure of God appears in a controversy, the shooting cannot be far off.

YayaCanada's Sunday Sermon
In my old blogging days, on Sundays I'd often preach a little sermon. Sort of like this one below, inspired by Michael Harris and his doubt about Canada ever allowing Andrew Scheer to become Prime Minister:
Michael Harris might be suffering from wishful thinking:
Poll Forum: Conservative Lead Grows Trudeau’s disapproval high: Toronto, May 17th, 2018
I'm not sure Harris fully appreciates the growing militaristic, gun-totin', xenophobia of the Jesus crowd, and the Scheer growth in their numbers due to their prodigious proselytizing.
And thanks to Trudeau's requirements that Bible Camps pledge allegiance to freedom of choice in certain areas they consider to be sinful, it's no longer just a matter of ideology; it's personal, by golly. They aren't going to come down quietly from a loss of dollars.
It's almost as if Trudeau has been setting things up for Scheer to win. He's being seen as a weak prime minister even by people who voted in droves for his father (myself included), and his Foreign Affairs minister is a war-mongering closet conservative who could just as easily jump on Scheer's wagon.
In fact, the very issue that the Liberals employed to disguise their underlying un-Liberal purposes is what could turn out to be their undoing.
Take a look at the video in this article. See how Scheer barely contains his glee as he pledges his support for the religious summer camps. He has seen how easy it is to con Christian fundamentalists and, thanks to Trudeau, he now has a great hook on which to snag them. He can almost taste the votes.
These unhappy camp counsellors are not just in the business of providing vacations for kids - they are operating "Bible Schools", where fundamentalist Christianity is taught not from the teachings of Jesus but from a strange mixture of Old Testament brutality and the strict, fanatical teachings of Paul -- the very first evangelist, a demagog who would gladly have profited from TV had he had access to it -- combined with the scary hallucinations of a mystery man called John in the Book of Revelation.
These people have the corner on God, and believe me, if God does not soon wreak his vengeance on the sinners of this world as long-promised, they will find (are finding) ways to do it for Him.
DVBS (Daily Vacation Bible School) has been operating in Pentecostalism at least since I was a kid, only now it doesn't take place in the same old musty Sunday School room in the church basement, it's an actual woodsy summer camp, where the kids don't get to go home for supper every evening and distract themselves with computer games or TV.
We're talking about actual sequels to Jesus Camp here, where the very opposite of a happy, healthy outdoors vacation experience occurs. Every last nerve in a child's body is exploited here, and fear of Satan is instilled until he becomes a living, breathing entity in their fragile minds - while this country still claims to protect children from physical and emotional abuse.
Before you decide about whether or not our tax dollars should be funding this travesty under any circumstances at all, watch the movie; see for yourself.
Or at least read my 2006 review of it which still survives thanks to another blogger's efforts.
Scary, crazy-like-a-fox Becky Fischer is still unabashedly plying her trade called "Kids In Ministry" on an international basis. It's not surprising that she has one of those horribly distracting websites that keeps flashing stuff in your face - a tactic that is becoming all too common amongst so-called news media sites as well.
The minute something jumps into my face or blares out at me when I'm trying to read text, I assume weak content and/or ulterior motives and hit the close button.
Buried deep in Christian overt support of "The Holy Land", is a deep and abiding wish for the "End of Days" which only fundie Christians will survive. Hence, Jews are also candidates for conversion.
The prophecy that "nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places" is taken as a positive sign. So bring it on, eh?
Despite a published backlash against Christian missionaries, make no mistake, in the minds of the "Friends of Israel" the Holy Land does not belong to the Jews, it belongs to a certain version of Jesus and those who "love" him, and Jews may well come to regret their unholy alliance with this insatiable virus.
