Faceless in Ontario
The better to bamboozle you my deers (caught in the
headlights) said the Big Bad Bully
I might be persuaded to wear a mask that says: THIS IS WHAT A PATSY LOOKS LIKE. How much you want to bet some grocery clerks would give me a thumbs up.
As it is: I'm down to only one meal a day now. Did you know that the longer you go without food, the easier it is not to bother with it at all? But I do eat in the evening while watching a DVD movie on my large computer screen.
I haven't quite run out of nourishment yet, and I'm getting really creative about using up stuff in my pantry that I forgot was there, like the natural brown sugar that went solid, and the coconut oil that's been sitting there for ages, and the macaroni -- and the Popping Corn!
Here's a recipe for you: mix a bunch of natural brown sugar with a bunch of coconut oil and add a bunch of cocoa. You can dip popcorn in it and maintain all of your necessary vitamin levels -- as long as you also take your vitamins, which I do, and which, fortunately, I have enough of to last a while.
I also have a cannister of flour which has been sitting in the pantry for ages (because I rarely bake from scratch, but cheat with Bisquick). And there's a few eggs left in the fridge, so, when the 12-grain bread runs out (which is going to happen soon) and after that the Bisquick, I can just add some water and baking powder, and bake it, and I'll have something that sort of resembles bread.
My waist has already gotten a bit smaller, which I like, but it's at just under 35" because of the handles, and I need to get it down to 34 -- but eventually I'm going to need to buy some food. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
I've been thinking maybe I could eat maskless at an outdoor cafe once a day, if absolutely necessary, but I'd probably have to put up with nasty stares, and that might ruin my appetite. Or I could knock on the door of a fish/chip place, give them money, and wait outside for my takeout. I love fish and chips! I suppose I could also order pizzas. But those last two options might put the weight back on if I'm not careful.
I'm already missing my rice milk and yoghurt, and soon my supplies of 12-grain bread and frozen veggies and fruit are going to disappear. No meat except a small can of ham, which I can't bring myself to touch yet since I know it's the last; and a solitary wiener that I'm saving to wrap in the last slice of bread with the last slice of cheese. And I have a couple of cans of mandarin orange slices, also saved for when I run out of frozen fruit.
I just hate not being able to go to the post office, the library, my favourite book store, the pharmacy, etc. etc. They were always my destinations for my walks, and now I have none.
So glad I'm not alone on the anti-mask front: Check out the letters at the Ontario Civil Liberties Association - OCLA - website. I happen to know there are even more letters on their way.
In the meantime, read the Daily Mail article by Peter Hitchens about "face nappies" or "muzzles", excerpted here:
And that's why I resist it too! I came into this world at the dawn of WWII when there was food rationing, and now, nearing the end of my life, I find myself in the midst of a war against humanity itself -- and my food has to be rationed all over again! Nice going, World.
Looking on the bright side of the virus fright, a variety of new businesses are opening up that take full advantage of the fear factor and the concern for the unemployed. This one purports to be a grassroots endeavour, but I'm guessing a large corporation is behind it, judging by the total lack of background information.
Only $14.99 each, plus tax (one assumes), including (one) free paper filter -- indicating lucrative ongoing maintenance costs as well -- and no guarantee whatsoever, except that wearing one provides the ultimate in that sexy dead-eyed look so many dupes are going for these days.
But let's get real.
Below is one of the finest and most important speeches I think Michel Chussodovsky -- Professor Emeritus Ottawa U. Center for Research on Globalization -- and founder of the website Global Research, has ever made.
