Compulsive Hand Washers take heart --

it's not necessarily you, but the government doing the compelling.

CBC: How Canadians will know when it's their turn to get vaccinated

Well, they might not actually; there are 10 (count 'em) "shoulds" in that article.

But who cares, eh?

NBCNews: "What's more scary to me is having an OCD relapse — that's worse than my fear of getting this virus"

Oh dear, we can't have people not putting the virus at the top of their fears list. Help should be sought, immediately. Talk to a therapist. He/she can order a personal prepared script to read to you. The cost of it will be included in your bill.

From HypnosisDownloads.com:
  • "The pretalk explains why excessive focus on what might go wrong in life is damaging ... and how one can take command of one's fearful fantasies and stop them from blocking life."

Ocduk.org says:
  • Common contamination obsessive worries and compulsions include: Public toilets, Shaking hands, Door Handles; Public Telephones, GP Surgery / Hospital, Eating in public locations ...
All the concerns we now have due to something called "Covid-19".

And if you're ever going to get over these obsessions, you have to just do it: visit a public toilet with no paper guard on the seat; shake hands with anyone who will allow it (good luck with that); open a door without a hanky; phone somebody from a booth just for the delicious danger of having that receiver so close to your face; wander the corridors of hospitals whether you need surgery or not; bang on the doors of locked-up food joints and demand to eat there ...

You'd almost think the government is hoping to drive us all crazy by making us fearful of just about everything.  Don't forget, when Covid dies down a bit, Climate will rear its head.  There will be no end of compulsive avoidance behaviour and we will have to return, time and again, to therapy.  And that's good for the fast-growing therapy business.

You don't generally find politicians seeking therapy, nor are they deathly afraid to break the rules.  What they're seeking mostly is forgiveness, or at least forgetfulness, or maybe just a distraction.

GlobalNews: Ont. finance minister to return to Canada after backlash over St. Barts holiday

NationalNews: Que. Liberal vacationing down south despite repeated warnings to stay home

In such cases, three words only are required of them: "regret", "mistake", "apologize".  They might also promise to quarantine themselves for the required time since they like "working from home" anyway.

By the way, if you have a fear of vaccines, you're stuck with it.  There's no script gonna help you with that.  What "therapist" could even imagine you not taking the vaccine, when so many influential people have such high hopes for it.

What's needed there is a good shaming program. Any politician, for instance, who dares to be videoed being vaccinated though not elderly enough, will either be faking it (most likely) or is selfishly taking away a jab that could have gone to a feeble senior strapped into a bed in a crowded, understaffed nursing home, who might not be able to escape.

Common obsessions include contamination (fear of contracting a disease), harm (fear of being responsible for something bad happening to a loved one) ...

A true confession:

When I broke both my wrists a few years ago I started pushing the post office door open with the side of my elbow. (I could not do it with cast and brace in place because it's a rather heavy door.) That became a habit even though my wrists are perfectly fine now and have been for ages. As covid madness took hold here people began anti-social distancing and donning the "mask of the beast" so I felt I needed to find a way to keep my immune system alert and running well by staying in touch with the community microbiome. The post office door seemed like a good place to do that. After all, almost everybody in town visits the post office at least once a day. I have been pushing that door open with bare hands for many months. So people can isolate and insulate all they want but little do they know that my microbes are happily comingling with their microbes at the post office door. I do not use hand sanitizers but I do wash my hands, just as I always have which is certainly not obsessively. So here's little me, not washing my hands, just clapping them for your latest post, Yaya.

BTW, did you know that microbes outnumber our human cells ten to one? What a masterful con job it was to persuade people to drastically disorder their lives in order to "fight a virus". If microbes could laugh, they would.

I only just discovered olivefarmercrete.blogspot.com and was fascinated by the most recent offering there. It's quite long but I'm glad I took the time to read it right through because it gave me lots to think about and a sliver of hope that "the world mind" will indeed prevail. Those big heads peering down through the eye of Sauron at the top of their pyramid are long overdue for a comeuppance.

Yaya and MR- I humbly think the microbiome of the earth and our microbiome intermingle and this is somehow the method for viral and bacterial exchange.

We are just loaded up with virus and bacteria. Normally. Always. It's the Genesis of our being. I've come across what is known as terrain theory and it makes a whole hell of a lot more sense to me then the present day accepted theory- from where vaccination originated. And Pasteur.

https://www.wired.com/story/the-19th-century-crank-who-tried-to-tell-us-about-the-microbiome/

Terrain theory-

I will post this at the blog eventually- that said it's definitely more sensible and worth considering (time has shown terrain theory to have lots of merit)

"His idea that microorganisms are necessary to good health, and that beneficial microbiota are pathogenic under the wrong conditions or in the wrong place, is now the standard view of researchers who study the microbiology of animals and plants. A new science of the microbiome—meaning, simply, the microorganisms in an environment—emphasizes that all plants and animals on Earth evolved in combination with microorganisms and asks how microbiota interact with their hosts. Over the last 17 years, we have learnt that countless functions in living things, from digesting food to regulating the immune system to germinating seeds, rely on microorganisms. "

First, beginning in 2001, scientists observed that mice with different microbiota had different biologies, suggesting that resident bacteria could modulate the host’s gene expression. Second, in 2006, researchers demonstrated that gut microbes could cause changes in a host’s phenotype, such as obesity. Finally, gene sequencing technologies developed for the human genome project were turned upon microbes in international projects like the Human Microbiome Project, freeing scientists from the limitations of culturing bacteria and revealing how microbial genes expressed themselves in their hosts. “People realized that [the microbiome] wasn’t some quirky, beautiful thing in biology, but was functionally crucial,” says Sonnenburg.

"You, too: Your cells have around 20,000 to 25,000 genes, but your microbiome boasts 500 times more. More than 98 percent of your bacteria can be found in your colon; but other parts of your body have their own colonies where microbes have evolved to survive upon the oily plains of your face, in the humid swamps of your armpits, or on the slick rocks of your mouth. Your microbiota are mostly harmless, but many are functionally important to you also, crowding out more harmful microbes, teaching your immune system to recognize enemies, and influencing behavior like your appetite. One third of human milk is composed of sugars called oligosaccharides, but babies cannot digest them; the sugars are food for microbes, which furnish infants with essential nutrients that grow their brains and proteins that seal their guts.'

Just thinking about the vast quantity of garbage food that is sold to us. As safe and good. And sadly that is believed and what is mostly trash is consumed.
It's awful

Also because you are part of the world- something I harp on endlessly at my blog- no mask or social distancing is going to block this exchange. It's bizarre to consider and could only be taken seriously by people who do not accept the reality of our place in this planet.

(sometimes I sound like such a broken record)

Hi Penny,
Terrain theory fascinates me too. I can wrap my head around it while I'm reading about it but the lifelong indoctrination of Pasteur's germ theory sneaks back in on me. It's going to take more time to break my germ theory habit. The human body is a big bag of microbes and this symbiosis seems to be all part of its brilliant design. Pasteur’s last words were “The microbe is nothing, the terrain is everything.”

> did you know that microbes outnumber our human cells ten to one?

"The traditional estimate is that the average human body is inhabited by ten times as many non-human cells as human cells, but more recent studies estimate that ratio as 3:1 or even 1:1." — Wikipedia

> What a masterful con job it was to persuade people to drastically disorder their lives in order to "fight a virus".

Not a con job at all. To "fight a virus" is a good idea at this time — given the number of hospitalisations and deaths from the coronavirus.

> If microbes could laugh, they would.

Some microbes would do it while killing their hosts.

And Doug Ford is using this latest fiasco to distract from his failures en masse. I'm not liking his 'daddy' role.
He's a bad, bad dad!

Hubby say's whenever he see's him- he's reminded of a John Wayne Gacy Clown

Hey you guys, it's so good to read you!

First off, Penny: tell your husband for me that I looked at the picture of the John Wayne Gacy Clown and Ford doesn't look THAT good. Ford WISHES he looked as good as a John Wayne Gacy Clown!

M.R. I thought of you early this morning as I entered Shopper's (the post office is inside the store). I became aware of my hand on the streetside door. Ha ha, take that you mask freaks, I muttered to myself. I notice that the people who wear masks often just saunter past the sanitizer in the vestibule as if it doesn't exist. The mask conquers all?

In the store, I saw two old guys chatting into each others' masked faces, close up. Good exchange of microbe-filled hot air, I'd say. Not many people seem to know that masks don't trump distancing.

It's going to take me some time to read again and digest the rest of what you've both written, but I need to tell you that I feel blessed to know such strong, sane, intelligent and caring women as you two. You can't imagine how deeply I wish you and yours a far better year than 2020 offered.

Makes me suspect that they are privy to info that we are not being told as to the actual dangers of the "virus".

I'm betting Covid-21 will suddenly appear and be all scary & dangerous.

My brain is very cluttered these days, but I was thinking the other day (which other day? they're all so alike these days) that "Event 201" indicates a 2020 "pandemic" plus a hint that it was only the first in a series.

I've just done a search and already they've been talking about a new strain. So that will keep the vaccines coming, won't it. And it looks like you win the bet hands down.

As for lock downs, the Charter of Rights & Freedoms (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/PDF/CONST_E.pdf) says:

"2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:"
"(c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
(d) freedom of association."

"52. (1) The Constitution of Canada is the supreme law of Canada, and any law that is inconsistent with the provisions of the Constitution is, to the extent of the inconsistency, of no force or effect."

That was the argument I was prepared to have with any policy enforcers knocking at my door this Xmas just past. Actually, I am thinking of having some T shirts made emblazoned with these words.

I'll buy one of your T-Shirts if you can accept a mailed cheque. Otherwise, I'd like at least a photo of it.

Turns out Ford fired Rod Phillips, but now Ford is under fire for having known about the trip since before it was taken.

<NDP Leader Andrea Horwath criticized Ford for his role in the leadup to Phillips' resignation.

<“Doug Ford knew about Rod Phillips’ trip to St. Barts two weeks ago," she said in a statement. "Not only did Ford not fire him then, he helped him keep the trip a secret. Phillips’ resignation from cabinet today is not because of Phillips’ vacation, it’s because they got caught.”

<Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca said Phillips was right to resign for "deceiving Ontarians for weeks" but asked what consequences Ford will face for the situation.>
