Doug Ford to speak at Christmas event hosted by social conservative Charles McVety
You have to forgive the Star; it is traditionally left leaning. If you want the Right response you need the Sun. (Yet, they all want us to believe they just report the facts.) Nevertheless ... Lest you think this is merely about Ontario, I suggest thinking again. The people attending a political event in the name of the Baby Jesus are the same players who got Stephen Harper elected.
The national organization Real Women will no doubt also be well-represented at McVety's shindig.
You might be interested in reading Real Women's letter to Trudeau (PDF) on the evil of a law that protects "transsexual" persons from discrimination, which they not-so-gently insist "... is based purely on politically correct ideology, not facts or evidence and is being rammed through Parliament in a highly undemocratic manner".
Trudeau may indeed be acting merely out of a veneer of political correctness, but neither can Real Women be said to be acting out of concern for the mental health and well-being of persons describing themselves as transgender, since they find the whole LGBTX scene not only repugnant but a grave transgression (if you'll forgive the pun) in the eyes of the Lord.
Last week, as I was packing up my books for moving to new digs, I came across my copy of Marci McDonald's 2010 book titled "The Armageddon Factor - The Rise of Christian Nationalism in Canada". It chronicles an earlier time when Charles McVety and Real Women pushed themselves into the public eye in time to ensure that Stephen Harper got elected as Prime Minister.
Reform Party leader Preston Manning -- successful in decimating the Progressive Conservative Party, forcing the tag end of it to join with Reform in creating the current Conservative Party of Canada -- was very keen on "training" for effectiveness in election campaigning.
In Chapter III, Page 99: titled Serpents and Doves, Manning brings Frank Luntz into the scheme:
The psychological skills Luntz was called upon to teach to Canadian Conservatives are outlined in his book: "Words That Work - It's not what you say but what people hear" (PDF). And that's the same technique being employed by Charles McVety as he downplays the far-reaching political aspects of his simple little Christmas get-together with friends.
There was also Faytene Kryskow famous for "The Cry" which made an appearance on Parliament Hill in July 2006, just prior to the federal election in which Stephen Harper ran. "How badly do you want revolution?" shouted a young male, as dancers stamped their feet and pounded the stage with long poles creating a military marching sound. (See video at bottom of page)
How badly, indeed. Sounds ominous, doesn't it?
This video, in two parts, will give you an idea of the extremely emotional underside of the reasonable public facade of these right wing, evangelical activists. Rest assured, those fanatics have not gone away; they've merely been rehearsing for the next electoral opportunity. Ontario's Premier, Doug Ford, is just for starters.
The subject of the above video, Faytene Kryskow, is behind the website 4myCanada.ca, another eye-opener on the political goals of evangelical Christians which they hope to achieve by attacking liberal candidates and helping "godly candidates" to get elected.
You can also watch the latest releases of "The Faytene Show". She's not been resting on her laurels while Trudeau has been steering the boat off course.
And then there's Teen Mania Ministries. Something for everyone. I wonder if they still participate in beauty contests? I recall at the "Cry" presentation in Ottawa there was a pretty young Miss Teen Canada, wearing a tiara and sash. She looked like a regular teenager, chatting casually with friends, until I pointed my camera at her and she instantly went into model pose: shoulders straight, chest out, teeth flashing. I kind of wonder what she's doing now. (See photo at bottom of page.)
It's funny, as I entered the scene of "The Cry", a man handing out miniature New Testaments looked at me closely and said, "I'm guessing you don't need one of these." I assured him I already had one, at which he looked very pleased and proud of his assessment of me; but then I added that he might not like to know what I think of it, and I felt a little bad leaving him with his chagrin. He seemed like a basically decent guy, but he was also caught up in a meme that has no exit for most of the hellfire-washed.
A couple of years before "Cry" made its appearance, Gary Leupp, writing for Counterpunch, advised a thorough reading of Revelation, the final book in the Bible, "to see how it can be used, and to see what sort of worldview the book encourages... It is filled with kabbalism, symbolic use of numbers ..."
Which is why I take note of the numbers that so often crop up in "terror" attacks. See here, here and here - and here for the numerical significance of the bloodshed in Palestine last Christmas Eve.
Strange that I've often decried "Obama's seven wars" going unprotested by what used to be a strong anti-war Left (I assume because Obama is both a Democrat and Black so can't be criticized), without recalling how important the number 7 is in Kaballah and the Book of Revelation:
There are plenty of "Christian" videos on YouTube accusing Obama of being the Antichrist. Here's one of them. Obama counters with "I believe Jesus Christ is Lord", but that's exactly what the Antichrist would say, eh?
It's a bit confusing, because Islam is currently thought to be the collective Antichrist, so at least some Christians might suspect Obama because of his family background, yet he oversaw the most horrific destruction imaginable of Muslim countries while still being politically correct in his assessment of Islam itself.
Are the problems of other countries (besides Israel, of course) just not retained in the minds of Western evangelicals, or do they all welcome the wars as a sign of the imminent return of Jesus, for whom they are willing to lie, steal and slaughter if it could hasten the big event?
Anyway, all to say that McVety is using Christmas to push himself and his objectives back into the limelight again, along with Faytene and Stephen Harper ("the record should speak for itself", he once said, but he's gone and written a book anyway) -- and by hook or crook (seriously, if it's for the Lord anything goes) the Cons will head up the next government in Canada. All three of the above possess amazing powers to brazen out any gaffes or criticism.
