A Leader Should Be A Thinker

EuroCanadian: Who is Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada's Public Health Officer?

     Initially, Tam questioned the public health risks of the virus:​

• Right now, the cases are in China. Very few are exported. Yes, there’s human-to-human transmission, but those are generally for close contacts...for the general public...the risk is low in Canada.

     Then ... Tam told Canadians in her April 3 television update:

• ... even if you’re not hearing about cases in your community, it doesn’t mean that there is no risk of exposure, and we must all consider that anyone could be infected and keep our two meter distance as the safest approach. [YouTube] 

     And now:

• Her recommendations have indeed evolved into simplistic symbols, the images for which bear a strong resemblance to public health information on avoiding the flu, which are presented every year for the virus which, at its most lethal, killed 8,500 people in 2018. And the country has never shut down for fear of the flu.

     Information not readily available about Tam:

• Somewhere there was a post that she was 55 years old, but I couldn't find:
• Her date of birth
• Her place of birth (other than "raised in Hong Kong")
• The dates of her various degrees - I even went into the UBC and UA websites looking for alumni profiles.
• There are no listings of her theses and dissertation.

And now total leeway is being taken by the media to mess as much as possible with our brains:

The following story was picked up like a rash and repeated everywhere in the news.

Examples:
 
CTV (deliberately?) gave the impression it was a Canadian story by leaving out specifics such as who, when, where.  The guy has a name, but so does anyone else with the same name.

CTV: This 21-year-old thought he had overcome a mild case of COVID-19. Then he went into organ failure.

• Spencer Rollyson says he didn't think much of it when he experienced mild coronavirus symptoms in May. Weeks later, the disease almost took his life.

Rollyson had made himself famous by reporting on Facebook that he had recovered from Covid-19 (a viral infection) but later was sent to hospital with "sepsis" (a bacterial infection normally treated with antibiotics). What specific disease was it that "almost took his life"?

Who is this kid when he's at home?  Where does he live?  What hospital treated him?  What did they treat him with?  What's his health history?  Does he smoke, toke, vape, drink alcohol?  He's clearly a tad overweight; by how much? What kind of work does he do? Is he a student? Were his contacts checked?  What medicines did he take when he treated himself at home?

WeshTV, which apparently initiated the media storm, says he's a Brevard County resident. He works for his family's business. What kind of business?  One in which he could have stepped on a nail, or something?  He was sick for 5 days, heart, lungs, you name it he had it, and was then sent home. That's a pretty fast recovery for somebody with so many life-threatening issues.

He's happily now the poster boy to frighten the bejeebers out of young people everywhere.

The story is repeated practically verbatim everywhere in the media, but some provide a bit more detail. FloridaToday says he's a resident of Canaveral Groves (Cape Canaveral vicinity) That's on the Florida East Coast. Wiki.

He healed so fast from all those dire conditions, that I'm thinking he may be a space alien.

Can't help wondering what health impact the "Red Tides" and "glowing Plankton" have in the Cape vicinity:

• Bioluminescent algae on Florida’s East Coast are part of increasing numbers of algae blooms in the U.S. — some of which are toxic, with possible impacts including tainted drinking water and poisoned shellfish beds.

Okay, the story about the kid is too obviously a top-up round of more confusing Covid indoctrination. As Dr. Tam became more and differently indoctrinated herself, she spun around like a weather vane. The media, too, pride themselves on their ability to "spin".

I've saved the best for last -- an authority from whom some folks might take a lesson:

NPR: Florida Sheriff Orders Deputies And Staff Not To Wear Face Masks

• Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods sent an email Tuesday informing the approximately 900 people working in the department that "when you are on-duty/working as my employee and representing my Office – masks will not be worn,"... Woods added that "effective immediately, any individual walking into any one of our lobbies (which includes the main office and all district offices) that is wearing a mask will be asked to remove it."

His reason?  Apparently, "When in doubt, leave out".

• "We can debate and argue all day of why and why not," Woods added. "The fact is, the amount of professionals that give the reason why we should, I can find the exact same amount of professionals that say why we shouldn't."

Now there's a thinking dude! Can't help wondering, though, if he'll be allowed to keep his job.
