24 Sussex Chronically Indisposed
-- It may become an election issue.
Repairs being done; asbestos removed, etc., taking the whole of Justin's tenure as PM and still not completed - or even really started? Why wouldn't the PM have tried to speed things up? Surely, living out his father's legacy, figuratively wearing his father's shoes, should have included returning to 24 Sussex.
Instead there is plenty of discussion as to why the touted refurbishment is taking so long to accomplish, and whether or not it is even important to pursue:
OttawaSun: 24 Sussex Drive a money pit worth saving
CBC: Feb/18 - Trudeau says he doesn't see himself ever returning to live at 24 Sussex
As is all too often common with our Justin, he gives a misleading answer. In fact, as long as the building remains standing and is used by kitchen staff, literally preparing takeout for Justin's family, it's costing huge dollars anyway -- refurbished or not.
Personally, I couldn't care less about a mere building. The PM should be able to live where he chooses. They can raze 24 Sussex to the ground for all the difference it's made in my own life. But if it's been decided that it's an important symbol, and that it should be repaired on the tax payers' dollar, then what's the big holdup?
It could be simply that Justin Trudeau doesn't want to live there, but also doesn't want to appear to be thumbing his nose at Canadian tradition. He does seem to be allowing an inordinate amount of foot-dragging on the issue of restoration. Why? To make absolutely sure he doesn't have to live there?
He's managed to avoid the place for 4 years now (maybe the only thing that was good about it for him as a kid was the food and perhaps some kind and friendly kitchen staff?), and now he's going to be able to avoid it for another four years, due to all the foot dragging on the renovations.
The Harper family never complained about living there, so how bad could it have been? Harper's children lived there without apparent evil consequence.
But maybe Pierre Trudeau's children did not.
I hate what I've found myself wondering about. This morning I decided I didn't have the stomach to think about it, let alone write about it, but here I am doing it anyway because of the question nagging me: what might be the real reason Justin is avoiding what could amount to reliving his childhood?
Could it simply be the tension created by the steadily increasing friction between his parents? Pierre, almost 30 years Margaret's senior, was a famous and influential man, always confident in his innate rightness about all sorts of things. Did he choose her for her child bearing potential and, when she had borne him three sons, did he then emotionally abandon her? And did her children have to live with her unhappiness?
Reportedly, Pierre often left her alone with 3 kids to raise while she was barely more than a kid herself, as he took to spending a fair amount of time away from home.
But here's a question: how could he have left her alone with the children if, as is widely said about her and by her, she had serious mental problems?
And why does the CBC article (above) quote her as follows:
A Wikipedia quote from her memoirs is even more damning:
"Like a patient in a mental hospital". Hmmm. No admission here that she actually had a mental condition; merely that she was treated as if she did. Nevertheless, Pierre left her in sole charge of the children?
All of this strongly suggests that something other than merely living at 24 Sussex was a factor in the failure of the marriage, and whatever did the real damage had to have affected the children as well.
Neatly, Justin, in 2016, ascribed the marriage difficulties to Margaret's "Bipolar Disorder" - a term that wasn't even in use in the 70's. The closest thing to it was "Manic Depressive", and I'm thinking that, if Margaret felt she was indeed in a prison, it's not too far-fetched to believe she very likely suffered reactive depression, which is situational, not a mental "illness".
If she blew up at Pierre when he finally returned home from his meanderings, that might have seemed terribly out of order to him in what he surely considered his carefully organized marriage, but would not normally be viewed as psychotic; more likely just royally teed off.
Nevertheless, Pierre's influence held, and still overshadows that whole family - what remains of it. The only way to get out from under such a powerful influence would have been simply to take flight.
And take flight Margaret did! Having been a self-acknowledged prisoner, she very dramatically cut loose. Free to do whatever she wanted, she wildly overdid everything, not realizing then that the Internet would not forget her antics.
Everything she said or did is recorded somewhere (and I do mean everything: caution "adult" images and text).
For a while there, almost anything went. Wikipedia mentions a couple of jokes about her. I can recall another one that was popular in Ottawa. It referred to the Trudeaus' beautiful backyard patio and the punchline was "Margaret laid the Stones."
But why has no one considered the mind-bending that even she states was inflicted by Pierre on her, a young, impressionable girl who was so mesmerized by him that, early in the marriage, she blurted at a huge pre-election rally in Vancouver -- and I heard her say it in a TV broadcast -- that Pierre had taught her "a lot about loving."
Where else would you ever have heard in public such a provocative and enigmatic statement from a young bride? What was he? Her husband or her teacher? I doubt one can have both in a marriage of equal partners. Experience is the teacher in a marriage of equals, and only a self-serving narcissist sets out to groom his/her marriage partner in the art of "love" or any other pursuit.
What she said was an extremely loaded statement, considering all of the allegations -- plastered now all over the Net - that Pierre was involved in a paedophilia ring. Paedophiles love to say that their predilection is an expression of the purest form of love.
Amazon was forced to de-list a book on that very topic.
What if the criminal allegations against Pierre Trudeau were true? He was, after all, the first PM to say that "There's no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation" (CBC Video). What if he did mess with his wife's mind and sexually exploit his own children? She was so much younger than he; she looked up to him; she not likely could easily have held her own against whatever he wanted her to do and think.
When the marriage broke down, Margaret was portrayed as a spoiled, runaway, upstart child. If she has found some peace now, I can only wish her well. But what about her kids? What might Justin have pushed to some dark corner of his mind?
This despite that there been so many reports of close acquaintances of his father and himself in extremely dire criminal circumstances?
Whatever it is, it may indirectly create an election issue this year:
CBC: Home games: Why the state of 24 Sussex may become an election issue
So Andrew Scheer thinks it wouldn't be so bad to live there. And, of course, the right-leaning media are eager to support his contention:
OttawaSun: Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer is right to say Trudeau has been unable to fix the problem in four years.
Now, for whatever it's worth, I feel I have to unload a whole list of reports about people close to Justin Trudeau having been outed as paedophiles, and I've only scratched the surface. Admittedly, not all of them can be considered the god's-honest-truth, but they're out there, and Trudeau seems connected with an unusual number of perpetrators, so it can't all be merely a ploy to influence election results. Here they are in no particular order of importance (except mine, of course):

Benjamin Fulford on BeforeItsNews (2015):
YYC Note: I'm not sure that MKUltra was still in operation when Margaret Trudeau is said to have received psychiatric care, or if indeed her treatment (if any) took place at the Allen Memorial Institute in Montreal, but it's interesting that the marriage broke up in 1977 -- the same year that thousands of files were uncovered and investigated with regard to that institution's nefarious activities.
In other words, friends: what you don't see in the mainstream media is very evident in many other quarters. We can't possibly know the truth about anything these days, but if it is true about the Trudeau family, they certainly don't want it verified as long as they seek positions of fame or power.
But it does seem to be a possible answer to the question of why Trudeau has consistently dragged his heels on the renovation of 24 Sussex. There may be something more toxic than mere asbestos hidden within those walls.
So, against my will, I'm now solidly in the ranks of those idiot conspiracy theorists.
